Gabby Petito

I know there have been tons of sightings in lots of places and this is just another one, but this one is interesting to me because I'm familiar with the area. Our family drives past this area on our way to our favorite campsite (which is inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park) In fact, DH just returned from camping there most of the week. It's the Waterville, NC exit of I-40 right at the NC/TN border. (If you've traveled that stretch of I-40 before you may remember it is extremely curvy because you're up in the mountains.)

Right away after you get off at the Waterville exit there's a marked spot where Appalachian Trail hikers actually walk across the road to continue on their journey.

Note that the title of the article makes it seem like this person (possibly BL) was seen ON the Appalachian Trail, but according to the witness he was on the road driving a vehicle. The person was acting delirious. Who knows if it was him or not.

Well, we a horrible ending to the case we were following in Orlando. Police have found Miya Marcano's body. She disappeared a week ago yesterday. The prime suspect was found dead by suicide on Monday, so this is not unexpected but it's still hard to take.

Her apartment complex, where she went missing and was probably killed, is right behind the Chick-fil-A we go to when we visit our daughter at UCF -- and only about 2 miles from our DD's apartment.

Terrible! I was wondering if there was any updates. I also remember reading about a another
Florida girl named Sheridan Wahl that went missing. Very very sad. Everyone stay safe and vigilant.

Sheridan Wahl, a student at the University of South Florida in Tampa, was also killed.

Her car was found burned a few days ago; her body was just found yesterday in South Carolina. She was reportedly on a trip to visit her father in Myrtle Beach but never arrived.

Apparently Brian's parents are now changing their story on when they last saw him.

I'm not sure whether they are changing their actual story, or if there was a one-day misunderstanding between the parents and their attorney.

The small segments of the news media that are still covering this story are hyping everything they can find in a desperate attempts for clicks. Fox ran a stupid story about one guy's experience in drug dealing more than 20 years ago (well before social media and surveillance cameras) as if it has any relevance.

Brian, or his remains, will turn up eventually. Hopefully he is found alive so Gabby's parents will find out what really happened.

A one day misunderstanding with the attorney and no one noticed until now? Sorry, how do you "misunderstand" an important detail like that?

I am not looking to debate procedure with you, I am just talking from a practical standpoint.

Even if a living-breathing Brian is in custody that's no guarantee that the TRUTH WILL BE REVEALED.

I don't know, but the attorney is from New York and apparently was traveling back and forth to meet with the Laundries.

To me, the more important thing is whether the parents reported him missing as soon as they thought he was missing -- or did they only do so in response to the police asking where Brian was.

Of course, but it 100% will not happen if he's not found alive.

I hear you :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 but think that now-a-days it is 110% likely they will still not find out if found alive which could make matters even worse.

True. At best, he will give only that part of his side of the story that he wants to divulge. Plus he could also just plain lie. He wouldn't be the first.

It appears after reviewing the timeline with their attorney the Laundries were off a day. Not sure it makes a difference or that it was intentional.

Who's shocked?

Apparently he flew home and back following their fight. Might have no bearing on anything, but an interesting data point. And reminds all of us how much we don't know about what went down.
That's not new though right? Hadn't that been known for a while? Still, I agree.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times on this thread, but I've never seen any actual news story on it. Do you have a link? Thanks.

Okay, I found one. So, according to the family attorney, Brian flew home and stayed for a week. The main questions that raises in my mind are
  • WHERE was Gabby during that week?
  • WHO was she with?
  • What was she DOING?
The attorney's explanation is that he came home to retrieve some items and close a storage unit to save money for the rest of their trip. That makes no sense -- you fly back and forth across country to save a handful of bucks per month?

Maybe they did the math. It's more likely...closing the storage to save money wasn't the true purpose? A split and then possibly reconciliation? They had a volatile relationship. Sadly it ended tragically.

I have no idea, just speculating. Storage units can be expensive, so maybe it was to save money. Maybe they broke up and reconciled. Who knows? Oh right, Brian knows!

It's just about time for Gabby's family to start bringing the media spotlight back on this case. They need to keep the pressure on.
