Gabby Petito

Wait a second....are you trying to imply that the son was with the parents THE ENTIRE TIME? If that's the case, they are 100% accomplices in this entire situation. Their son was wanted for questioning in the disappearance and then murder of his girlfriend for crying out loud. This comes off as giving those people more sympathy for this family over the family of a woman who was killed.
Ummm no. I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion. LE knew where Brian was until he left his parents home the night of the 13th of September. His parents reported to the FBI he left for a walk and had not returned. He became a person of interest on the 15th. Days later the local PD filed a missing persons report. There was no miscommunication from his parents. It appears they cooperated from the beginning with LE.

There are statements confirming the Laundries had a good idea where Brian's was hiking. Also others disputing they knew he was going to kill himself. Brian was upset and wanted to go for a walk. His dad tried to stop him but ultimately couldn't. Dad went out to look for him the same night and was unable to locate Brian. Chris Laundrie is devastated his son is dead.

If he went looking for him the very night he disappeared, then how come he didn’t find him? If they told the authorities and directed them to the spot, it WOULD NOT have been under water at that time. There’s no way the place flooded completely in 1-4 days. I’m sorry, but I still think something was going on there. Regardless, NONE of it does away with the fact that both Brian and his parents should have gone to the authorities as soon as he arrived home without Gabby. It beggars belief that the parents didn’t have questions about Gabby which Brian gave suspicious answers to at best. I am tired of people saying “their lawyer told them not to.” HE KILLED SOMEONE and should have just admitted it from the beginning and saved everyone a lot of time, money, angst, and sorrow.

This is a sad situation all the way around. It’s sad that Gabby lost her life at the hands of someone she loved. It’s sad that that her parents lost their daughter. It’s sad that Brian’s issues with anger and abuse weren’t addressed earlier, so that he wouldn’t have abused and killed Gabby in the first place. And although I don’t know whether his parents were involved after the fact or not, it’s still sad that they also lost a child, and I imagine they are asking themselves what they could have done differently to prevent this from happening. It can’t be easy knowing the child you raised and loved killed someone.

My thoughts right now are with Gabby’s parents. There is often a need to hear someone accept responsibility for their actions in a case like this in order to feel justice has been served, and they have been denied this. Perhaps somewhere in Brian’s belongings the authorities will find some confession or signs of remorse that can help her parents move forward. I hope they are able to find a way to deal with their grief privately now.

There is no way we know that he told his parents Gabby was dead. He had come home without her at another time too. How many people kill other people and turn themselves in? Sure, would be nice, save investigators a lot of time and energy. I don’t think his parents did anything wrong. I hope they turned all media off for a month.

But not with her van. Surely that must've raised their suspicions.

The area was flooded the night Brian's father went to look for him. Why couldn't he find him? Don't know..I'm not a psychic. Either Brian didn't want to be found or was possibly already dead? Why should they have called the police as soon as Brian came back without Gabby? It wasn't the first time this had occurred on their trek. I believe he came back early to mid August alone.

He came home with HER van. That should have led to questions.

I don't believe his trip back in August was in her van though.

He could’ve told his parents anything, that she was staying with friends, that she flew somewhere else, even home, remember she lived in Florida with them, she rarely drove.

So he arrives home with GP's van, no GP.
Wouldn't they ask what's the deal?
And then ask sonny how he purchased all the gas? Do you owe anyone money we need to repay?
Pretty basic stuff for anyone who has owned and operated a vehicle.
They were welcome to trust every word he said. But I don't believe they didn't ask a few questions.

It's been reported that Gabby didn't drive. Maybe this didn't seem unusual to the Laundries. I don't know...none of us do. We can speculate all day and not know their thoughts. None of this makes his parents accomplices in his disappearance or Gabby's death. IMO

Even if she didn't drive, they were living in the van. Him taking the van would leave her homeless, and they had told police they didn't have the money for a hotel during that stop.

I doubt he told them he left her on the side of the road. He could’ve made up any story that would be believable.

He’s an adult, I don’t ask my adult children how much money they have, how they pay for gas, if they borrowed money I need to pay back. My 25 year old flew to Austin last night, I didn’t ask how she paid for her ticket, how she is paying for her hotel. Do some parents have access to their adult kids bank accounts? When he flew home in august did they ask how he paid for his flight?

Oh my there are many believable scenarios that Brian could've put forth to his family PP mentioned several. I do not believe they had an inkling even in their wildest imagination that Gabby was dead. Did he confess to them at some point? It's possible but I don't know. Their actions do not appear to corroborate the theory they helped him disappear...kill or cover up Gabby's death. This isn't a film...there was no script. The Laundries are human beings experiencing this nightmare in real time. The evidence points to Brian and not his parents.

He could have said that she left him and went home. However, his cover would have been blown as soon as Gabby's parents started asking where the heck she was.

Brian is dead, obviously he won't be charged with anything now. Whether or not there are crimes with which Brian's parents could be charged will probably be decided within a few days.

I assume your adult child lives as an adult.
The son we are discussing was unemployed and living with mom and dad. Children with no income (or very sporadic income) need lots of things paid for them.
Car insurance, maybe health insurance, cell phone, gas, airline tickets, pocket money.
And yes, it's sometimes easier for folks in
this type situation to have access to a "joint" bank account.
But maybe not wise.

FWIW It has been reported that the Laundries fully cooperated with LE and no immunity deal is in place.
