FYI, checked in today at POR and try are flat out refusing to put cash on our room key. We don't have back up plan so we will keep up with the $1000 cash. Gonna try it again. Later tonight but the CM check with several other employees trying to do it . Will update if I get it

Will they let you put a Disney gift card on it? I've heard people do that before and if they will then you could always buy some with the cash and then put it on the room. :confused3

I will try that in the morning. The CM checking us in whispered that I could try concierge desk at another resort add it to our account. We have for years put cash on our key.

Just curious why you would do that?

Do what? Put cash on room key is something we have done for years. I save for our trips and have every cent planned out. We are going to be here for 14 nights and have figured $700 just in tips.

Called again and they have our debit card on file. We are just going to run our room key and pay for things and will just run by front desk and pay the charges with the cash we have when we get close to $1000 and just start all over again. POR also has lock boxes at the front desk and they have offered to keep the cash for us

Is this just POR? Or is this a new thing they are doing now? I was planning on using cash for our stay at CBR. I prefer to do it that way so I am not stuck with a GC afterwards.

$700 in tips alone? Do you mean for meals and mousekeeping? Or other?

What is a reasonable tip for mousekeeping? Per day. I would rather be generous while DH is well, let's just say a little more frugal LOL.

The CM said new to POR, not sure about the others.

Mainly meals, we have 14 nights with 5 adults and we are eating big this trip, lots of expensive places, Christmas day we plan to drop a $big chunk. The CM make our trip so magical every time we try to give back. We have also planned on a few appetizers and drinks not on the plan. We will leave $5 per day for mouse keeping and $20 for Christmas Day. We also counted luggage assistance, ME driver both ways.

From what we are understanding they have my debit card on file. We are charging to the room and when we reach our resort limit they will call and during the call we will just inform them not to run the card but that we will be down to pay the balance. My Visa debit has a per transaction limit so they won't be able to run te amount anyways. We are just keeping the cash in the safe till to e to pay.

Rule of thumb that we've always gone by is $2 per person per day. If I'm paying daily, I'll usually just round up to $5 if the job's done well; maybe a little less on a day that the job isn't done well.

Are they refusing, or are they just unable to?

If other CMs are trying, and if a CM is telling you to have another resort's concierge try, it doesn't sound like a refusal to me. Sounds like a system problem. Which wouldn't be any sort of surprise to me, given what they are doing to the main website and sometimes to the DVC website.

We always charge everything to the room and settle the bill with cash before they have the chance to charge our cc that is on file. Never had a problem doing it that way.

You might want to ask for them to run a bill for you every other day or so to make sure no extra charges appear.
