FYI - There is NO GAS in Metro Atlanta

I live about an hour north of the Perimeter and we haven't had any major shortages. To be on the safe side I'd fill up between Chattanooga & Cartersville if coming down 75 though! Hope everyone makes it safely! Scary to think you might run out in the middle of nowhere, huh?

It's cheaper there too!

Somewhere near Dalton is a Hess station. Last weekend it was the cheapest gas I saw going to and from Knoxville!

A rumor may have started the problem in Nashville, but the gas problem is NOT a rumor. I live in the Nashville area, and there is no gas. Sounds like Atlanta may be having a similar problem.

:rotfl: It probably says something about my priorities in life when the first thing I thought when I saw all the exits w/no gas in the city was "Oh no! All those poor people traveling to Disney that just assumed a big city like Atlanta would have plenty of gas!".

But seriously, I can't think of much worse than being in the minivan with all the kids and finding out there was no gas on 1-85/75 going through the city.

So don't panic - just plan ahead travelers - there's nothing worse than getting trapped by traffic or car issues in an unfamiliar place. Locals like us know where the gas stations off the main 1-75/85 exists are - but I would not want to have to look for gas if I was trying to get to Disney with the family.

Hopefully we'll be back to normal soon! :thumbsup2

Well.... I don't think the line at Walmart and the gas shortage are related.

The line was huge because that's a CHEAP price right now.

Actually it is related. Yesterday, that was the only open station in the area at that point in the day. QT was out, Ingles was out, Racetrack was out, and if you wanted gas, it was Walmart there at L'ville Suwanee & L'ville Hwy or it was another 5 to 10 miles to find gas.

if you come down on 24, stop around the Fort Campbell/Clarksville area...So far no shortages here.

Hi neighbor, I'm in South Clarksville, exit 11 area. No shortages of low-grade in my area, but there is little to no mid-grade or premium-grade. Wal-mart on the 76 Connector has only low-grade @ 3.89/gal. Phillips 66 on Madison has low-grade only @ 4.19/gal.

That is absolutely true. Most of the stations have been out of gas for the last few days and as soon as a station gets more gas there are lines of cars backed up into the street waiting to get to the pumps.

Oh, and I'm not sure if Wal-Mart and Phillips 66 are limiting, but Wal-Mart pump cut off @ $50 and Phillips 66 cut off @ $40. Since it takes around $90 to fill my truck as well as my husbands, we had to go to 3 different places to get a full tank.

I live off of 285 @ S. Cobb Drive- No gas as far as I've been able to find within 10 miles. If any of you find any relatively close, can you please post?! Thanks!

Edited to add: I haven't actually tried looking for gas outside of 10 miles- Although I haven't come across anyone who knows where any gas is either.

I live about 90 miles west of Atlanta...in Alabama. For whatever reason, the county I live in has been having gas shortages since last week. No where else in the state...that is being reported...is having problems. One news report said that a rumor was started and people in our county panicked and ran out to the stations. However, that was four days ago and we still only have about 1-2 stations in town that have gas. What gives? I have to admit...I was one of those freaking out last week...because my light was on and I had to get to work the next day. I commute 55 miles...one way...and I didn't have near enough gas to get me to the next city to get gas! Luckily, I found some...only waited in line about 10 minutes so I was lucky!

thats crazy because the price of gas is DROPPING here. it went down almost .20 in the last 2 days. it was at $3.32 when i got home this evening.

seems crazy you ahve no gas, and we're dropping.

If things don't chill out a bit around here by Thursday, I will be forced into riding my scooter to work, which is fine with me, if the weather cooperates.

We're driving from Minneapolis on Friday and also likely taking the same route as you. See you there!!!!!! :)

Hope to see you too! We are staying at AKL. If you see me and Mr. Famsen pulled over to the side of the road and out of gas, please stop and say hi. :)

I just don't understand why gas prices have not dropped any??? I mean with the price of oil per barrel dropping. We are still paying around $4/gallon in Alabama.

My mother lives in Huntsville and they are having a shortage there as well. Gas prices aren't dropping in our areas because the supply has been decreased. It's the simple supply/demand rule of economics.

except for about 2 days during Ike, we have been consistently dropping for 2 months now. infact the 3.32 that i paid today is still up. before Ike i was paying 3.10. so we still have a ways to get back to.

I just read the Tennessean newspaper online and they have an update which states that the gas situation should be nearly back to normal by the end of the week. The shortage was due to the Colonial Pipeline shutting down during hurricane Ike. AAA is reporting that the situation was improving in the Nashville area. The shortage is moving south but the deliveries are on track for this week. They are urging people not to fill up if they don't need to so that there is enough gas to go around until things are back to normal.

I can't remember the last time we saw $3.10...before Ike we were down to around $3.40/gallon and I thought that was great! :rotfl2: Since Ike, we are back to $3.99 but some areas have been up to around $4.20.

I talked with my parents over the weekend...they live about 30 minutes from Huntsville...they have not had any issues in their area. Go figure??

but, that just doesnt make any sense. with me being up north they have to ship this gas to us. one would think the closer you were to the refineries, the less it would cost:confused3 . shouldnt i be paying a small fee to get the gas to me?

Hmmm...this post is ok to be in Theme Parks, but my post about gas prices in Orlando was moved to some nonsensical place last week. Weird.
