FYI on ending of the Circle Board (old IB)

I just saw this thread on the Circle of Life board (the old Inspiration Board). Thought I would pass it on. I looked here on the CB and did not see a thread here on this, sorry if I missed it and this is a duplicate. Looks like the weight loss board has been moved here by the birthday and post count board.

Now thats a shame.... I remember the Inspiration Board was the first place I posted and got interested in the DIS... that is the first memories of my DIS experience are there...

Sad to see it go!!! A lot of mods put a lot of heart into that place.

The old IB was a blast! A trip back for those who recall........ Remember when Michelle and I were the mods and we were both going to WDW at the same time in DEC. We left Gene and Simon in charge?! Remember Reg and her underwear? Remember the bachelor party? Remember all the fun people that aren't around here much anymore? Hard to believe those events took place just about 3 years ago!!!!

And of course.....can't forget the original board mod and all of her special posts there! I don't think anyone ever tried to fill her shoes.....they just went with their own style instead as hers could never be imitated!

I had requested a change around 8 months ago now.....and the DB definitely fits me better these days. Then Bean, Kels and Robinrs made it into a new IB, a Circle of Life. They did a fantastic job and put a lot of heart and soul into it!!!

However, my heart will always miss the old IB!

I was never around for the very earliest IB days, but it sounds like it sure was a hopping place back then.

Mickey65... please keep posting the types of things that you were posting over there here on the CB now. I really liked so many of the special little sayings, phrases, inspirational messages that you would post over there and would miss them if you didn't do that anymore.

I'm with Mickey65 on this. The CB isn't the place for some of this. It'll just end up locked or moved to the debate board. Maybe you all would think about having a IB thread that don't move down on the CB where we might share some thoughts. Please give it a thought. Thanks!

The problem with the IB/Circle of Life was it wasn't read often enough. As a former mod of that board, I can tell you it was a bit disheartening. Judy from Boise and I used to joke that we spent all day just chatting back and forth to one another. As a mod, you put all that time and thought into posting things you find relevant or inspirational, and no one looks or responds, well, it gets old.

Thanks to Kelsie, Bean, and Robin for their efforts to revive the board. It will be missed by me.

I used to spend a lot of time on the IB, too. Don't really know why I stopped. Well, things always change, don't they? Sorry to see it go.

Brenda, I think that's a really good idea. I was thinking of the idea of making the IB a subboard of the CB but didn't think there was enough posting for that, so didn't suggest it. Your idea sounds good to me though! An IB thread at the top of the page... I like it.

I agree with the folks here who will miss the board for what it evolved into over the years. It became a place where folks could post about sensitive, sometimes personal issues, as well as 'quiet thoughts', without the thought in their mind that the thread would become a source of debate nor furthering of various agenda. Threads of these types did not tend to get hijacked there, and that was good. The few times folks tried to sew discontent there, they were essentially ignored for what they were attempting to do. Here on the CB, those types of replies generally wind up in a free-for-all, and as Buck said above, get closed and/or deleted, at the expense of the OP.

I do not agree that it was not read often enough. By whom? Those who did participate, or just read without reply, found great comfort there, IMO. There are actually 20 boards on the DIS with few posts than the IB. These boards are quite focused in their existence, as is the IB.

I also think, again, JMO, that the days of the moderators having to 'jump-start' a board with posts are gone. It seems the boards just take a life of their own, slow, fast, whatever. In looking at the IB since March, there have only been about 25 or so threads initiated by moderators. Good ones, yes, but not needed to 'get it going'. I do recall, back almost three years ago, when I became a moderator, that was one of the 'responsibilities' of a moderator, to 'initiate conversation'. I do not really see that happening on an ongoing basis (though I must say that Snoopy does come up with some neat 'thought provokers' here on the CB). It seems like boards just take on their own life and the Circle board (IB) has a nice, worthwhile life, one that maybe could continue as said above, as a sub board here on the CB, like the bd and weight boards.
