HI wanted to pass this along. After the hurricane, Florida has seen and influx of bugs and frogs. So it is best to apply bug spray to avoid the bits. We were at the Wilderness lodge this weekend and there were tons of frogs all over the place. Bartender at the Geyers Point said that since the hurricane they have scene an increase in the amount of bugs.

As a Florida native, it doesn't surprise me that areas near undeveloped land or on the water is buggy after the storm. Yep, pack extra bug spray for the next few months.

Interesting. I was there the day after the hurricane (9/12) for 11 days and didn't notice any bugs at all. I didn't wear any repellant, although I carried a few individually packaged Off towelettes in case they were needed. They never were. We have had some heavier rain again lately. I wonder if that is what is causing the bug issue instead of the hurricane? I did notice at Pop there was a lot of standing water the day I checked in, but the next day it was all gone. I don't know if they pumped it out or the soil just managed to absorb it that quickly. I'm sure they were prepared to remove standing water after Irma. Standing water has a tendency to bring out the bugs here too. There are some spots along my daily commute that were not flooded during the hurricane, but have a few inches of water over the road now from the more recent rains.
