A quick note for guests using the walkway to Epcot from the Studios. Due to construction, foot traffic is now taking a long path through the new bus stop area, so expect to add an additional 10 minute of walk-time.

Make sure to add a little extra time if walking from Epcot, or the Epcot area resorts (or the reverse), and you have to be somewhere in the Studios, Epcot or the resorts by a certain time. Better to be early than late.

Well, not happy to hear that with our Beach Club visit this fall. A major part of the draw for those resorts is quick & easy access to the two parks.

I completely agree. We are staying at YC in September and I love the ability to walk quickly to each park.

This is why we stay at YC-- quick walking access to both parks. Plus-- I already have an EPCOT day booked where we are hopping to DHS for a short period of time because it was the only day I could get a reservation. Not pleased about this detour.

Whoa!
My sister and I enjoyed walking from HS to Epcot last September.
We'll be going late August and now I'm thinking it may be a better option to take the bus or boat.

Same here...this is gonna make our 7 am TSL AP time all the more painful. Anyone know how long this "detour" will be around? Our next trip is September 20-23.

Thank you so much for letting us know about this, OP.

Yikes! 10 minutes is a lot of additional time on that walk. Thanks for letting us know! We leave in 38 days, I'm guessing there is a zero chance it will be done by then.

Doesn't seem that bad. 10 minutes is probably a high end estimate.

Only temporary. :)

It sounds like even with the detour, its not a bad walk. When we go in October, we'll still walk from BWV to HS instead of the boats.

Hmmm, I'd like to see an aerial view to gauge it.
Something I threw together quickly using photos from the other thread. I'm thinking another 5 minutes or so. It should be something like this :
Yellow = current route through bus drop off
Green = new route from photos
Red = where current lot is cut off

I think the 10 minute estimate is overkill. Looking at the first pic, the added distance is the vertical green lines of the drawing. This looks to be the equivalent of about 15 rows of parking total. How long does it take to walk 5 rows of parking out of your way, then another 10 extra rows towards the main gate? The part in the middle is the same distance as before.

Thanks for the pic. This tells a thousand words.

Thanks DisFam. Makes it pretty clear.

I know it's not a lot of extra walking but when the Florida sun is blazing down on you and you've been at it since ropedrop, every step can feel like a mountain.

OK, that's a long walk anyway. If ten more minutes puts you in the grave then I'd take the boat or bus anyway. The wife almost pummeled me for making her walk last last summer.

Yep. That walk was a once and done for me in the winter.
Now to add an extra five minutes or more to the walk in the summer? :scared::crazy2:
