I know, it doesn't get that bad all that often anymore, plus I ordered Lucinda Bassetts Attacking Anxiety Program and hopefully that will help some! I can't wait to get it in.
Excellent post, Disney Doll. No one should be on psychotropic meds without also getting counseling. They should also have an MD monitoring their meds rather than self-dosing. That said, I've really got to make an appointment! Unfortunately (ironically?), the diseases that are treated with these meds have symptoms that make it so much more difficult for the patients to follow through with their doctors. It can so easily lead to a downward spiral. (E.g., if you're having agorophobic panic attacks, it will be hard to leave the house to see the doctor. Same if you're depressed, plus you don't want to seek counseling because talking about your problems can bring back the feelings that you're trying to overcome.) Then there is the problem of the horrendous cost of mental health care and the lack of insurance coverage. It's pretty uncommon for a patient with a severe disorder to be productive enough to be able to afford the care they need.
It's all very frustrating, for the sick as well as those close to them. Both sides need all the support they can get. End of babble.
