FYI for large group dining

I dodged a bullet today, so I thought I'd share my experience ....

We are coordinating a group trip next month and had 14 people going until recently. We have a Goofy's Kitchen dinner planned for our arrival night and I booked it 60 days out back in August to be sure we got in easily.

Now we have a added 2-year-old (custody issue, thus the late add). He was easy to add to everything else because we don't need a ticket or an extra room for him, but you have to count every head for dining, "anyone with a heartbeat," according to a CM.

I called last week to add him to our GK PS and the first CM told me that 15 people put me into a "large group" category and that I would have to call a special group number. Unless I just wanted to show up with an extra person, which I thought was a very dicey idea given our party size. I dutifully left a message and waited for a callback within 48 hours as promised. No call.

Today I called the original dining # back to ask what I should do. Different CM she we just needed a supervisor, who added our #15 with no trouble. She said they shouldn't have sent me to the group-message number.

Moral #1: 15 people for dining is the "break point," so be aware if you are counting heads for a larger party.

Moral #2: Call back when you don't get an expected response. CMs don't always have all the info (I've heard that a lot, just never experienced it til now).

Also another note about large parties.

If you are travelling with an extremely large party (there's no set number, but I would say approximately 50-75+), and plan on dining at a Quick Service Restaurant (aka Counter Service), please stop by City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Guest Relations Lobby in Disney's California Adventure Park and let them know in advance so they can forward that message to the people who need to know. With advance notice, most Quick Service Restaurants at the Disneyland Resort can prepare large quantities of food and have it waiting for your party when you're ready to eat.

And it also avoids the uncomfortable situation and resultant extremely long lines when you come up to a Register and order 200 orders of Chicken Breast Strips with Fries, Drink and Dessert to boot...

Yes, this has happened to me before, lol.
