FYI..Charts of Dining Rotations Eastern & Western Magic (UPDATED 10/19))

Diva of Dragons....

I just checked my Western Navigators from our 8/3 cruise and it lists Palo High Tea on Sea Days (Mon & Thur) from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

I would assumed that on the Eastern it is also offered on the seas days.

Awesome chart!! I printed it out for my records. Thanks for taking the time. :)

The asterisks on the handy-dandy chart indicate this.;) So, on the Western, you'd want APLAPLA (2 dressy nights)...Eastern you'd want PLAPLAP (3dressy nights), because of where the Formal nights fall. That's what I'm going for! :teeth:

Is that really true? No matter what night you are in Lumiere's you need a jacket? Where is it written that they have their own dress code? I must have missed it!

Thanks....

Paul

Yes, it has always been that way...the suggested dress code for Lumiere's is Jacket. Alot of people do just wear button down type shirts with nice slacks and tie, but the RECOMMENDED DRESS CODE IS JACKET.

The exception to this is on the first and last night of the cruise due to luggage situations. DCL takes into account that not everyone may have their luggage by dinnertime or that some people on last night may have packed already.

MJ

uh oh... better rethink what I'm packing! Here we go again!

Paul

Paul, if it makes you feel better, we just packed one jacket for my DH and two dress slacks, two dress shirts and two ties. I just told him to be very careful when he ate not to spill anything on himself!!!

He wore the same jacket to Palo, both formal and semi-formal (we had both these nights in Lumiere's). It all worked fine with just switching shirts and ties.

Then of course we packed some polos, Dockers, t-shirts, shirts and shorts for the rest of the cruise days/nights.

MJ

Hi again! OK, I had never heard about the 1st and last night exceptions but...........to complicate things even more, Tropical/Mexi.. night is themed for all restaurants, so festive clothing is the order of the evening, even in Lumiere's/Triton's. :smooth:

This seems to have changed.

If I look at the most recent Navigators (for the Eastern and Western itineraries) that are posted on Web for any evening that is not formal, semi-formal or tropical, here's what I see (not just the first and final evening):
<blockquote>Parrot Cay, Animator's Palatte and Lumiere's - "Suggested Dress: Casual, no shorts or jeans please"</blockquote>
The only restaurant that still has "Jacket Recommended" is Palo:
<blockquote>Palo - "Suggested Dress: Jacket Recommended, no shorts or jeans please"</blockquote>

Horace,

Thank you for pointing that out. I was not aware that the suggested dress code had changed for Lumiere's.

Diva,

I knew that, that's why there is no asterik on those nights. I didn't want people to think that had to dress special for Lumiere's on Trop/Mex nights. They should wear they tropical wear no matter what rest. they are in.

mmouse37, some suggestions for the charts:
  • I know I used the term "rotation menu" earlier in this thread, but looking at the charts, I can now see how the phrase "rotation menu" under "menu/theme" could be meaningless (and confusing) to first-time Disney Cruise passengers. It might be better to use a term such as "restaurant-specific" to indicate that they'll have the Parrot Cay menu in Parrot Cay, the Lumière's menu in Lumière's, and the Animator's Palate menu in Animator's Palate.
  • I think the Western itinerary chart is in error. The chart shows that passengers get the same restaurant-specific menu on Saturday and Tuesday -- and that they thus miss one restaurant-specific menu entirely. The way I understand it is that the first three nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) use the restaurant-specific menus -- but that Monday night is the formal night. Take a look at the menus and days at Dave's site at http://www.dcltribute.com/menus/western.htm . If you think about it, the only way to assure that everyone gets all three restaurant-specific menus (once and only once), is either to have restaurant-specific menus exactly every other day (as on the Eastern) or three days in a row (as on the Western). What makes it difficult is that they want to have the formal and semi-formal nights on days at sea, but the two days at sea are three days apart.
  • Per my earlier post, you might want to eliminate the asterisks by Lumière's.

mmouse37-can I just say again, that you did a great job on this chart!!? Ok, I'll say it:

"You did a great job on this chart!!"

Thank you!! I printed it out to help plan and take with us.

Hi Horace....gee, I think you have more time on your hands than I do!!!! Only kidding...thanks again. As I said in my updated post at the beginning of the thread I was not sure if I had the Western right. After looking at Dave's site I see what you were talking about. So, Tues is Master Chef & Thursday is the Captain's Gala. I will update charts over the weekend.

And yes, I will take the asteriks off the charts since the dress code suggestion has changed and changing regular rotation to rest. specific or something.

Thanks again for all your insight.

MJ

Thanks for the great chart!

Somewhere on these boards, I know I saw something that said what day or restaurant that you will have character breakfast, based on your rotation. I'm pretty sure it said that it would always be a sea day, but does anyone know how you determine which sea day it is based on your rotation?

Can you tell I'm a first time Disney Cruiser???

We can't wait!

:D

Thanks for the great charts... Suggestion for next "update" (not asking too much, are we? LOL)... maybe include which show is associated with that night. It might help people to figure out when they want to book Palos :)

If you eat at Palo's during your normal "assigned" dining time, you won't miss any of the shows. I suspect it may be possible to switch shows, so that the night you decide to eat at Palo's at 8:30, you could catch the early show. If you have late seating, you could do the opposite.

Just my $0.02! :D

MJ ~

You are too good to us!! :teeth:

The more you give, the more we expect!!!

Thanx again ~ Sandie

I am 13 and my sister is 4 1/2. What rotation will be get? On our last cruise we got aplapla. I hope be in lumeries on formal night and parrot cay on tropical night.
Thanks
Matt

donalds best pal....which cruise are you going to be on? If you really want to be Lumiere on Formal night and Parrot Cay on Tropical night you should have your parents call DCL and request APLAPLA on the Western, and PLAPLAP on the Eastern.

According to these boards:

LAPLAPL - no kids, mostly teens adults

APLAPLA - mostly little kids

PLAPLAP - medium age kids

We requested APLAPLA on our last Western cruise because we wanted to be in the Lumiere's on formal night and PC on tropical night. We did not find too many kids on that rotation. We had mostly teenagers and adults in our group.
