I just added on via phone this morning! DVC is now registered to operate in WA state, so anyone wanting to take advantage of the 15% off from WA can do so. Yippee! :cool1:

That's great news! When we first bought in in 1994 DVC was registered in our state so we bought in sight unseen, then a few years later we wanted to add on but at that time they were not registered in our state so we had to buy resale and then a 3rd add on was later bought while on vacation in Florida, we really had to decide on the spur of the moment knowing that we couldn't go home and buy from our state, so having them registered in our state is good news again! I wonder if this new registration in our state is due to the rumors of possible DVC in California before long, we would be good recruiting grounds for one in California! Thanks for the info.!

We just purchased SSR in June '05 and DVC was registered in WA to complete that transaction, but we also did an immediate add-on at BWV and we had to have the documents mailed to family in Montana who forwarded them to us in WA.
I don't know if things have changed since then, but it seems that they only keep a current license in Washington for the resort that they are currently selling new.
I don't know any real estate law, but it must be an expense that is too high for DVC to market add-ons purchased withing Washington. There are loopholes to make it work out, at least I don't have to go to florida to sign closing docs. Although it would be an excuse to go to the world.

Wow, that's great news. You'd think they would have sent out some type of notice to WA contract holders. Also (if I am remembering correctly), when they finally became registered in CA they offered a special add-on incentive to contract owners that lived there. Boy-oh-boy...I don't have any excuses now!!! :teeth:

Okay this is weird...my guide just called to introduce herself to me (our old one has left DVC). She actually didn't realize there had been a change until I questioned her about it. They can only sell SSR directly to us. Any other resort still has to be done in person while visiting or through an out-of-state address.

It probably has more to do with the new sales offices at DL than it does to foreshadow any future resort at DL. Each resort has to be registered in order for DVC to sell. They were registered for SSR so that they can sell SSR. If they decided to build at DL, they would have to go through the same process all over again.

I guess it is more complicated than I originally thought! I'm glad I was interested in SSR - wanted that 15% off! We were going to try to sweet talk them into giving us the discount when we visited in January; we knew we wanted to add on. When we bought last February they told me that even for add-ons we would have to go to Florida to purchase.

Debbie in Seattle - whenever I see your user name I always want to say "look at me, I'm over here!" LOL - I lived in Seattle for four years during college but have been in WA state my whole life. Disneyland addict first and then three years ago I got bit by the WDW bug! :flower:
