FW-WL Pool

FW Guy, is that education from Wazoo University? I am familiar with that one.

As for the pools, a bus driver told us that FW guests can use the WL pool. He said they are sister resorts and therefore can share pools. My son and nephew went to the WL a couple of times. Never were asked for id. If we are ever stopped, we will just say "the bus driver told us we could".

Gee, I guess we happen to be the only people to have stayed at FW and had to SIGN our name to a piece of paper that mentioned no pool hopping allowed even at WL. To me, at least, it meant NO POOL HOPPING, period.

As far as DVC pool hopping, where allowed, it is only when staying at a DVC Resort on POINTS. Even when staying at FW on points, pool hopping is not allowed.

Even though it is hard to believe, there ARE RVers who stay at FW and other campgrounds who are snobs.

All this pool stuff is too bad, but 10 to 15 years ago our sons loved pool hopping and hitting like the CB pool complex along with some of the other resort video arcades when they were teenagers. They took the bus, stayed together and we didn't worry about them safety wise.

We have pool hopped as well. They stamp your receipt and it clearly says "No Pool Hopping", but we have never had a problem. We have gone to the WL pool, as well as, the Polynesian. The Polynesian has a pretty neat pool.

I have never had a bad experience or heard anyone say anything negative about the Fort Wilderness crowd. We usually do not go to the parks when we stay at the campground because there is so much to do there.

I have seen some beautiful RV's at the campground and everyone has always been so nice. We have heard a couple comments about our golf cart, but never anything nasty.

I think most people are genuinely nice people (or I would like to think so). We do stay at the other resorts, as my mother in law is a DVC member. We enjoy them all for different reasons. By the way, sometimes you can get a really good deal by renting points from the DVC rent/transfer section of this website - you may already know this, but I thought I would pass it on!

Let 'em have their themed pool. I'd rather hang out at the water filled concrete hole in the ground and have a Kungaloosh with you guys anyday.

BigDaddyRog: Completely off the subject, but I just noticed your weight loss ticker. Any secrets you care to share. My husband would love to slim down a little, but short of starving, nothing really seems to work. I am sure alot of exercise would probably help, but who has the time???

I noticed you have a ticker for your next trip to Ft. Wilderness as well. We may be there around the same time, but I am not sure I would try and find you. You scare me!!

I had the gastric sleeve surgery...diets and excercise didnt work for me anymore either. I feel like a new person........not neccessarily a better person, just a new person.

I really enjoyed reading about your dilemma with the steering wheel - I am glad that worked out for you.

I appreciate the offer of the shirt - I may take you up on it if the new puppy decides to relieve himself on our luggage on our next trip.

The surgery sounds painful. Was the recovery long?? I am not sure he is at that point, but he would love to figure out a way to lose some weight. Diet and exercise don't really do much for him either. It is hard to stay committed to it.

PolyPix has been so nice to me - she has got to be one of the nicest people on this forum. I can understand why everyone seems to like her.

I also remember a time when pool hopping was actually permitted. We started visiting Disney back in '91. It was actually featured in their advertising. That all came to a stop when the Beach Club and Storm-Along Bay were built. In fact our first stay on Disney property was at the Caribbean Beach..love that resort!

You all are so sweet! I'm gonna get all choked up now! It's true about Rog, though! I was just thinking about that the other day and started to remind him! He was so out there! With his Bourbon St job and all his rough talk. He had this avatar that would alone scare you! Then Rhonda awarded him a get out of jail free card! I mentioned that he scared me and that was the best thing to say because we started talking on these boards and I realized that he is truelly a genuine and loveable guy. I'm looking forward to the day when I can meet him in person and share a Kungaloosh!

Once upon a time it was not only permitted, but encouraged! WDW wanted you to check out the other pools because by default, you would be checking out the other resorts in the process. Your mind would start rolling....hmmmm, this place looks nice. Lets stay here next time! All part of the master plan to get return guests! For people like me who will be returning as much as possible anyway~ it was a nice feature. BTW, about 2 years ago, we stayed at POR. I scheduled dinners at resorts I hadn't really experienced. I planned time to hit the pools there, too. At that time, I didn't realize it was no longer permitted. It was a great time, though!

So we are "Trailer Trash" because we are at Ft. Wilderness....

I would rather keep our Hoop De Do Review, Camp Fire Sing Along, Petting Zoo, horses and fine DisCampers friends, while they can........oh they get to watch the Geizer (sp?) go off every few minutes.........How EXCITING!!!

Maybe we will let them go to the dog run to visit the well mannered dogs!

Heck ya they want to keep us from straying...Notice the bus problems lately? I think Disney is doing everything they can as not to infect the non Discampers....They built a Dog Run so that we can keep our dogs from the other kennels...There thinking is.."We gave them a kennel now if we build a dog run they will stay there.."

They give us golf carts and spend money and to justify spending the money maybe we will stay at the Ft. longer just to ride around them...

They give us a petting zoo...Why...so we don't have to go to the parks to get pictures with the characters..

Campfire...so we don't go to EMH.....

The only reason for the bus and boats in my thinking is they have to let the inmates out at some point...Notice we don't ride to WL anymore. We go straight to the MK and back.....

Raise the Colors! Rog can lead us!

He says he wants to improve FW's image; show that the guests at FW have an air of sophistication and charm. He gave me a picture of the spokesperson, who will have to come back from his cryogenic state to do the campaign, but Bobby says the money is right so he is confident.
