FW to Charleston, SC

Just wanted to see if anybody has made this trip and if there any gotchas.. Looks like straight shot from 4 to 95, and across 17.


What campgrounds would you recommend in Charleston? Will have 3 kids and dog. Mt Pleasant KOA? We are going to be there for 4-5 days, site seeing / looking at possible relocation site…

We always stay at James Island County Park Campground. It is 6 miles from downtown Charleston and one of our favorite campgrounds! They also provide a shuttle to downtown. Fabulous place to stay!

We love camping at James Island County Park! Lots of bike trails and playgrounds/parks. Even a great splash pad and a water park. It's close to downtown Charleston, but away from the craziness of the city. Honestly, other than Fort Wilderness, it's our favorite campground! So beautiful! And, yes, your directions look accurate. Have Fun! Charleston is Amazing!

We usually stay at Mount Pleasant KOA right on the lake. We love it. Fishing, paddle boats, pool. We have not stayed on James Island to camp, it is definetly on our to do list! Have fun, sounds like what ever you choose, you can't loose.

We make that trip 3 -5 times a year. We now live in Beaufort SC. Make sure to watch your speed when you come into SC from mile marker 0-8. The local Police loves to do speed traps in this section.
