We are wondering what the security is like at the campground. As my husband said, it seems like it might be a prime target for people to try something during the day since a thief would know we're all at the parks during. I told him Disney is a class act so I'm sure things are well patroled, but we're nervous with our brand new camper :).

In the many years of going to Fw I have never had a problem. You have to pass through a Gate Guard to get into FW and they do have Security in the area. Since 9/11 Disney now uses Uniformed Police officers thruout WDW. I have seen FLA Highway Patrol and Orange Co. Sheriffs Dept both in all WDW as offduty security.

I never have had a problem. However I would not leave the campsite for the day and leave a laptop on the picnic table. But I feel our stuff is safer there than any other campground. Plus not everybody goes to the parks every day I always see people in the loops every day all day.

We saw more security this past trip than I've ever seen in all past trips combined. Several times we saw security driving through FW, the oddest was the security guard in the Magic Kingdom during MVMCP. She was standing off to the side in the dark with her arms crossed like an unhappy Wal-Mart guard. She was really out of place amongst all the magic.

I sometimes don't even lock the door on the camper when we leave. If we're going for the day I do, but if we're just going up to the store or to the pool then I don't.

We've camped in cabins in dozens upon dozens of campgrounds....the fort is the FIRST campground my DW has agreed seemed safe enough for us to actually tent camp in.I realize that you dont know my DW...but TRUST ME.......thats says ALOT for the fort!!!!!

Wow, now that's a great campground! I'm feeling much better already. We just dropped our TT off at the storage place and I could see my DH watching in the mirror as we drove off :) This is a new experience for us all the way around. Can you believe we chose a trip from Denver to Orlando for the first BIG trip? :dance3:

Same here especially Orange County Sheriffs both on foot just outside the MK and even in cars inside FW.

I just lock the doors and bays, set the alarm and go.
Never have worried about someone prying the door off, or breaking a window.
A lot of people never even lock the doors,... but not everyone is as paranoid as I am.

If someone was to break into my tt, I would almost feel sorry for them, hey if they want a box of cheese-its or dirty laundry then they really do have a problem :rotfl2:

In the past some have posted experiences with theft while at FW. Of course most are crimes of opportunity, so just be smart.

yeah, I remeber not too long ago...someone's christmas decorations got stolen off of the site. But at the same time I've seen where people had full kitchens set up under screen houses....microwaves,TVs, toasters, mini fridge, etc, etc.....and no problems. Granted...if its very valuable, lock it up when your not there, and many times the rule applies..OUT OF SITE, OUT OF MIND.

I think the decs were stolen from another Orlando cg. That was Discamper I think. I leave stuff out all the time and no problems.
