howdy! how much do the washers and dryers in the campground cost per load? is it realistic to plan to do a load or two every other day during the week?

Washers are $2.00, Dryers are $2.00. Bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Those are expensive, it adds another $2.00 per load.

I do laundry at Ft. Wilderness every couple of days. Usually, I start a load before going to the shower at night, then when I'm done with my shower, go transfer the load to the dryer, then go back to the camper and piddle on the computer for a bit (check email, download pictures, read DIS, etc.), then go pick up the clean clothes from the dryer.

I think it was $2.50 per load for washer or dryer when we were there in Nov.

Yes, I would suggest doing a load of laundry everyday or every other day depending on the size of your family.

I waited until I had 4 (maybe 5:sad2:) loads of clothes and towels to wash and it took forever. The dryers are pretty crappy so plan on hanging up things like jeans and beach towels.

:)

We used the laundry in Dec and it was $2 per load for washers and for dryers. I brought my own soap/dryer sheets. They have the single use ones in the vending machine (not sure of the price) Machines take quarters and there is a change machine as well.

You certainly could do laundry every other day, but you'd be spending an awful lot of time you could be spending in the parks or relaxing at the Fort :thumbsup2

It takes a good 75-90 minutes to run a load through both machines, and the machines are not very big (not like the "jumbo" machines at many regular laundromats).

We stayed 3 weeks in December, and tried to plan it out so I only had to do laundry twice.

I liked the set up at the All-Star, they had a laundry cabana right next to the pool, so convenient to doing multiple loads, you could wait by the pool while the kids swim. Wish the fort had this...

2 words.... Golf Cart!

Definitely makes doing laundry a lot more convenient ...and FUN :drive:

I'm the opposite. I like it in the comfort station. It is much more convenient for me to do laundry the way I mentioned above. (We're not really big pool people either.)

FYI, there IS a laundromat at the cabins pool.

We did some laundry when we were there in March and it was $2 per wash and $2 per dry. We found that the machines worked very good. We used the comfort station back by the 1600 loop.

The DVC resorts have machines at the pools which is nice because you can use the pool while doing laundry.

I was wondering the same as far as the price......also, is it hard to get an empty washer and dryer or is there normaly a wait to use them

We wait until late to do ours, after we get back from the park, during the fireworks is good time. OOPS! I guess I shouldn't have shared that little secret...:thumbsup2

It takes 2 margaritas for 3 loads wash and dry. At least thats what the DW tells me.

I can confirm that.

I have good luck when I go around 9-10 am.

Don't forget that if you do your laundry REALLY late, you may need your KTTW card to get in.

She must be sipping them.....:rotfl2:

= 1 margarita..:thumbsup2

Bring many quarters, your own soap, bleach. We do a load or two in the middle of each week we are at the Fort

Yeah right- like anyone is gonna be able to get their kids to swim in that pool (unless staying right near it) with the new pool with slide going? Not my kids. LOL

I can confirm that.

Wait- you need a KTTW card to get in the comfort stations at night? That's a good bit of info to know!

Unless something has changed, there is a laundry center by the little pool over in the cabin loops. If you were viewing the pool from the road it's the building to the right of the pool. Last time I was in there, they had double the machines of the camping loop comfort stations. So...you can conveniently swim and do laundry at the same time.
