Are these attractions for FW resorters only or can anyone join in the fun of the Campfire, the Hayrides, the Water/Electric Shows?

I am thinking this might make a nice last night event for a 5 year old. I am hoping that the events don't go too late. Does anyone know the timing and other logistics connected with any of these activities and experiences?

These events are for everyone. I think the electric water show is at 9:45. Campfire and hayride times i'm not sure but the info should be on disneys website or you could call them to find out exactly what time.

I'm thinking about doing FW our first night with my 5 yr old, too. Does anybody know what time the petting zoo closes?

Check on the camping forum - I'm sure they would be able to tell you.

P.S. Often times they also list the movies in advance...

As already posted any resort guest can do the campfire sing-a-long, hayrides and EWP.

The logistics depend on how you get to FW. If arriving by boat, the zoo is just past Pioneer Hall (a short walk from the dock), the hayride starts in front of Pioneer Hall. If driving to FW you will park at the entrance and ride the bus from the Outpost to Pioneer Hall. (The orange bus line runs down the center of FW.)

The pony rides at the petting zoo end at 5:00 pm and the zoo remains unlocked until sunset I believe. (have quarters ready for the food dispensers)

The Campfire is located behind the Meadow Trading Post. you can get there by walking (about 1/2 mile or so) or by bus. The sing a long begins at 8:00 pm (summertime) and the movie follows at 8:40 pm. They have a chuckwagon that sells fixin's for s'mores, sticks to roast with, popcorn, drinks, etc. (you can use room charge)

The EWP is at 9:45 as previously stated and is located on the waterfront down at the docks.

I was just there Wednesday - did all the things you wanted to to except hayride with no problem. Had plenty of time to shop in the trading posts, play a spirited game of tether ball, enjoy the peacocks roaming around and eat a great meal at Trail's End Buffeteria.

Hope this helps!

IMHO this is a great way to spend an evening at WDW!!

Have a great time!

I didn't realize the that the camping board would include this sort of amusement. I thought it was either a resort or trip/activity sort of question.

I will have to look there for times.

I think it might be a nice low key, mellowing out sort of end to our vacation rather than fighting the crowd of MK at Spectro.

Don't forget about the carriage rides! We did this last year. It was so nice. I would do it again. Mickey

This is a great "free night" that seems to be largely overlooked...which is great for those "in the know". The assumption is you need to be a FW guest to enjoy these highlights...let 'em assume!

I am planning on doing this for our first night as it will be a non-park day. Characters, petting zoo, campfire sing-along...they'll think they ARE in a park! :smooth:

I got great advice from Chip N Dale Express on how to get there using Disney Transportation and Trail's End gets solid reviews.

JuJu

JuJu,

Do you mean this campfire thing is free? When is it? What days and times? Does it change seasonally?

What is the Chip and Dale Express and how did you find a reasonable mode of getting to these events?

Please inform me all about it.

KIS

Campfire, sing al long, and movie are free--only thing that costs is the food if you'd like some :)

We're staying at the cabins and will make this a must for at least a couple of nights. Don't think we'll be able to make the 9:45 water parade though--little ones are bound to conk out by then.

FFeret:

A friend of mine stayed at the FW cabins. She raved about it. I hope you find it equally as suitable to you and yours.

I can't believe that's all free. It sounds too good to be true.

How old are your children? My daughter is 5 y.o. She usually conks out abut 7:30 if she's getting up at 6 (She'll need to do so for EE).

Is it satisfying enough for a child to skip the electric parade?

ps. What's the Chip-N-Dale Express?

KIS, Chip N Dale Express is a Disney cast member (a bus driver, I believe) who posts over on the Transportation board. You might want to post any questions you might have about getting around WDW property over there. He's real good about answering. (Click on the scroll down menu at the bottom of this page to get there.)

Good luck!

Pat

124 days and counting . . . again!

I had posted a question about how to get from BCV to FW...this DISer (who proudly admits that he wears purple pants!) replied with excellent suggestions (Bus to here, Boat to there, Bus to Monorail to Boat to Bus) all of the different combos. He was super helpful.

And YES, it IS all FREE! But shhhhhhhhhhhh, let's not let the best kept secret at Disney out of the bag! :-)

Ju

Dear Ju,

Did you just post on the transport board? Did you ask specifically for the Chip-N-Dale Express or post more in general?

It's good to hear how helpful it was to inquire. I'm eager to do so.

KIS

KIS--

From what I've read the water parade isn't exactly a MUST DO; just something fun to see if you're at the right place at the right time :) Not sure how long it takes for people to get from the campfire to the shore though for the parade. The campgrounds are supposed to be HUGE

My little ones are 3 and 5; they're usually up from 7:45, then at 8 it's bedtime with stories. They fall asleep before 9 (God-willling)

Glad to hear that the your friend enjoyed the cabins; we've never been to WDW and I'm so excited!

I was told by a WDW CS rep that Trail's End Buffeteria is the same food as Hoop de Doo, just without all the pomp and circumstance (no show!) And it's WAY less expensive, to boot!!!
:smooth:
Anyone have any opinions about the dining experience there?
My 3 boys have done the Wild West Saloon Show at Old Tucson Studios in Arizona 3 times and so they are not really going to be into the Hoop de Doo Show enough to warrant the cost for a family if 4 (2 @ adult price and 2 @ kids price = $125 + beverages, tax, and tips I was told!!! ) but they LOVE the food served there and also love the whole idea of the campfire sing-a-long and s'mores, etc. with Chip & Dale (they are MY personal favorite characters there!)

Thanks for your input!:jester:
These boards have been SUCH a help!!!

I dropped a post on the Resorts Board, not the Transportation Board. I was trying to figure out how the heck I could get from BCV to FW using Disney Transportation but not burning up a park day using a ticket.

Chip 'N Dale replied to that thread with GREAT info. If you'd like to try to contact him directly via PM, here's his exact user name:
Chip 'n Dale Express

Good Luck!

Ju

JuJuJasmine,

This is my first trip so this is purely theoretical:

Could you get to the TTC using a resort bus? Then take the monorail to the Contemporary and catch the boat launch to Ft. Wilderness from there?

Here's the advice I got from CNDExpress on how to get to FW from the BCV...

You have a two main choices.

First choice is to hop on a bus to the MK, and then catch the boat to Fort Wilderness. If you want to ride the Monorail, you can ride it to the TTC, and then hop the bus to FW.

The second choice is to hop to boat to the Studios, and then catch the bus to Fort Wilderness. The Studios bus will drop you off at the Settlement Depot, which is the location for Trail's End. To get to the campfire program, you'll want to take an Orange internal bus.

I told you he was GREAT, didn't I?

Ju

JuJuJasmine,

Where do you find this CNDExpress guy again? Is it on our friendly DISboard called "transportation"? Do you just ask for him in a subject and then follow up with a question? I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.
