FW Campfire, Hayrides, Electric Show, etc

KIS - he just replied to my post in the resorts board. You could send him a PM if you wanted to ask him a question directly -
here's his exact user name:
Chip 'n Dale Express

Else - put up a post in resports or transportation and chances are good he'll write back to you.

We just got back from a week at Ft.W cabins. It was great.

I am so happy that we were able to do the campfire. It is alot of fun. A lady w/guitar sings songs, there is a big fire pit to roast marshmallow(you can buy them and a roasting stick at the snack counter) and then cartoon & movie on big screen.

Keep in mind that this is seasonal. I'm not sure when you are going. You may want to check the schedule. Also the "campfire" part is cancelled when raining. It rained all but 2 nights we were there.

We did eat at Trail's End. It was very good. The chicken and ribs were excellent. Lots of choices for all sorts of eaters. We had a little bit of a wait because we needed a table for 7. Others with smaller groups were seated right away.

We did not do Hoop-de-doo. I didn't think it would be worth the $$$, if the baby got fussy and I had to leave it would have been a waste.

We did not get to see the water parade. On night we did see the MK fireworks from the dock(again in the rain). It was very nice!

Remember - you can watch the water parade from any of the resorts on Bay Lake.

We usually watch it from the Poly Beach after dinner at 'Ohana because it comes by there about an hour earlier than at Fort Wilderness

Dear aurora19,

Do you know the time that the water parade is by the Poly? I'm hoping we can do the Ohana dinner and am curious to see if that will fit in with our plans.

Thanks.

KIS

JuJu,

I've only been on these boards for a month. What is a "PM"?

momxx5,

The campfire sounds just like what I'm looking for as a last night's mellow, warm, fun evening.

Thanks for describing it all.

KIS

When we go in December, the parade goes by the Poly at 8:30 and then heads to GF, Contemp, WL and then FW at 9:30 - but exact times are usually on Steve Soars (?sp) site - but sorry I can't think of the link right now.

Its nice because we usually finish dinner before 8 and head down to the beach to watch the fireworks and then wait for the water parade - a relaxing evening and the kids think it is very magical.

Hey KIS -
A PM is a Private Message - kind of like an email but it runs thru these boards. If you click on "User CP" (look up, up, near the top of this page, under the big banner ad), you can see your history of posts or initiate a PM.

If you're reading the boards and there is a post that interests you and you want to ask that particular person more about it, in a more "private" way, you can click the PM button at the bottom of the post - it will open a new window.

Go ahead and PM me when you read this.

I use the User CP all the time, it's how I know if anything new has come up to threads I've posted on, or others I've subscribed to.

JuJuJasime,

I tried send you a PM. Let me know if you got it.

thanks for helping me with that. i guess i'm still rather a novice at these boards.

Princess Holly, I'm not sure if you got your question answered or not. But, if you are staying in the Contemporary Resort, you just need to jump on the monorail to MK and get on a boat to Fort Wilderness. When you check in, you should get a book that is all about transportation.

I'm sure the original poster is now thoroughly confused...

if you are staying in the Contemporary Resort, you just need to jump on the monorail to MK and get on a boat to Fort Wilderness.

You do not have to hop onto the monorail to MK to get to FW!
If you are staying at CR there is a boat that runs between FW and WL - no need to be hopping on monorails, etc.

As far as her original question is concerned - they have been answered. Now she has to weed through the countless directions from the 'experts'.

Do you require bug repellent at the campfire?

Where I live, you get eaten up with mosquitos as soon as you leave the house.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Mehudicka;)

Disney does spray for mosquitoes at FW, I was there a week ago Wednesday - brought bug repellent, but did not use it.

It never hurts to be prepared. Bring it from home - will be a lot cheaper than purchasing at the trading post!!

Have fun!

Has anyone been on one of these? How do you book it ahead?

How about the hayrides...do you book those ahead?

One last question....how do you get the coundown clock and cute pics on your signature? I'm not very technical so I hope it's easy :)

Thanks,
Michelle

Do yall think they will have the campfire during November? Please say yes. My dd really wants to see C & D. I know we can see them other places, but this is free!!

K & Hmom - The campfire is everynight. What they meant by seasonal was - when it gets dark earlier in the year - the time changes.

In the summer the sing a long (with C&D) starts at 08:00 and the movie at 08:40.

After the time change I don't know when it starts.

Rest assured the little ones will get to see C & D!!

Also a little tip: C & D's favorite snack is Chocolate Chip Cookies,
so if you bring some with you, they will gladly take them, makes for a good photo op!

Hope this helps! Have fun!

The cabins are GREAT. It's hardly roughing it, with maid service. I wanted to see the campfire program when we stayed there but, sadly, it rained everyday. I understand you can see the electical water pagent from the late hayride. IMO, the water pagent was kind of lame, but okay if you happen to see it. The water pagent could certainly use an updating.

After the time change in the fall the campfire program moves up to 7 p.m.

How long does it take to get from the Contemporary Resort to Fort Wilderness using the boat? We have a 5pm CHef Mickey PS and was hoping to do the campfire/movie afterwards.

After the time change in the spring the campfire starts at 8 p.m.

Going from the Contemporary to FW should take about 10 minutes on the boat plus wait time for the boat.
