Future World vs World Showcase - Closing Times

I noticed that there are different times for when parts of Epcot close:

Future World
9:00am - 7:00pm

World Showcase
11:00am - 9:00pm

Since we would like to see the Illuminations fireworks show at 9pm, can you suggest what we can do with 3 young, tired children from 7-9pm at Epcot if the Future World is closed? We usually eat dinner at 5pm, so I don't think we will be able to eat between 7 & 9.

Would having an early dinner outside of EPCOT, heading back to your resort for a rest/swim and then heading to EPCOT later for Illuminations work for you? Just a suggestion.

There are plenty of fun things to do with the kids in World Showcase. Our kids always loved the shows especially, the drummers in Japan, acrobats in China, the band in Mexico and Off Kilter in Canada. There are also character greeting opportunities in World Showcase. Check the showtimes on the card they give you on the way in. Also, depending on when you are going, you will probably need to reserve a spot at least 1 hour before the show.
