OK, right now we have orders going for Race Ready adn Alertshirt shirts and there is a whole new designed proposed for Eye2Eye.

green222.jpg

Here are teh concerns I noted on teh eye2eye thread:

1. While teh color does differ a bit on teh RR shirts, it's teh same design. I really don't want different designs and 3 colors. We don't look like a ream any more.

2. WIth alertshirt (does the original WISH shirt), we can get very reasonabley priced scream team shirts. Matching teh design would eb hard, though and more expensive, if possible at all if we changed to the new design.

3. I don't know that everyone is popping in here, as not everyone is looking to get a new shirt. If we are changing the design, we need to get everyone's opinion. Perhaps we should start a new thread with a title like, "The Future of WISH shirts."

FInally, teh design is SUnny's I don't feel rigth changing it withough her input. I hate to bother her, as it sounds like life is far from easy right now, but I'm going to see if she will chime in too. At least give her the opportunity, as she came up with the base idea while teh WISHers at teh time gave input. As Mel said, the shirt was a team effort adn we need to look at this like a team again.

However, ther are people who were promised that we could get them WISH shirts before Minnie. I'm at a loss. I hate to think of people spendng teh $ now and then we change directiosn with the shirts, ut I want everone who wants a shirt to be able to get one.
Please give your opinions, even if you are not planning on ordering now or anytime soon. The original shirts were a team decision adn I think future shirts need to be too.

Immediate concerns are whether or not Mel adn I shoudl eb placing orders with a possible new design coming.

Thanks fro everyone's help.

OK.

I have an order in for both the Original and the Race Ready.

I am not a fan of anything that has come up in the Eye2Eye thread and would really perfer at least one option for a non print shirt remain. I can't see me wearing the castle on my chest LOL!

And I have some concerns about copyright on the Eye2Eye Design. Disney is generally OK with "personal" use. Does a hundred (or even 50) folks ordering from a commercial website cross that line?

If we go with only the print option I am not sure I will buy.... I know I wouldn't like wearing it. I guess I would just try to go find a "hot lime green" shirt!

I am seriously considering the Minnie and would like at least ONE t-shirt by then, but considering the "shirt" confusion I have begun to assume I won't have one.

If nothing else I hope that the "original" option remains as its reasonably priced and was the initial and (I think based on seeing at ToT) a very good choice!

Hi. My 2c, I'm actualy going to be emailing you Carrie, as I do want to own something of the "classic" wish apparel. I wasn't going to order the raceready - as I wasn't sure it would be a good fit for me. DH & I are both interested in what designs come up with the eye2eye people, and have been keeping up with the thread - as we might order from there - we really like the most recent with the castle and the parks on back. Our only suggestion with the castle on the front is that it should be a bit smaller to fit on the shirt, and with regards to the runners, maybe have them lower on the castle to look like they're running through - Ok, back to the main point...

I too would love to have something for the minnie, and was very content with it being the original shirt design. And willing to wait to see what the 2nd choice would be.

Carrie, i also have 'ordered' both the original and race ready shirts with the hope of having something for the minnie. The most important thing to me is that we are a team and should all be wearing the same if not very similar shirts. It's very confusing for a new member to know what to do!

The new eye to eye design is lovely, but i agree that i'm not certain i'd wear it outside of WDW. Even so, it maybe time for the team shirt to move forward, in which case it's a great idea to have everyone's input and not feel under pressure to create something in time for minnie.

I had starting writing a new thread to explain what we were doing on the possible new eye2eye design and where we were. Before I posted, however, I saw that this thread was started. Rather than give the background of where we are and what our plans were, if the "team" has no interest in pursuing this, then let us/me know so we don't waste our time trying to have a shirt designed that meets with "team" approval. I or we (if others are still interested) can then explore things on a more personal/smaller group level if we so desire. Some of my points as to the current state of "team" WISH-wear is as follows:

**The "team" decided to use a vendor for tech shirts that does not make shirts that will fit many team members. Thus, "We are Inspired to Stay Healthy" if you do not exceed certain maximum size requirements.

**The "team" has decided that the team colors should be lime green for tech shirts, safety green for "original" shirts, lime-ade for some hats/visors and yellow for other hats/visors -- thus, other than some type of bright green (excluding the yellow hats), what is the official "team" color.

**If the "team" has decided that all shirts must have the exact same written graphics, fonts, format and design as was decided by the team several years ago, before most people currently on the "team" were on the "team," so be it. Kate and others have spent time and made an effort to keep things true to the original intent with some minor modifications. We have tried to communicate with some of the veteran team members to understand the reasons for some of the things included (like the feather and the size of the print) to ensure important things are not altered in a way to take away their meaning. I have never seen a written history of how the original design came about, nor the importance/meaning of everything included (although I could guess as to some).

Let us know what the "team" wants. I can always wear one of my Patriots, Red Sox or another tech shirt at an event if it is hot.

I'm a newbie, only a month here. I placed an order for the Race Ready and the original. I just want WISH clothes so I can feel I belong!

I'll probably order an Eye to Eye one too once you decide. I kind of like the castle.

Really, I'll order whatever is chosen, I just want to have something!

Allyson :)

As someone who is fairly new to even looking at these, I can only go off of the pictures I've seen...but...
In looking at pictures from previous races, what stands out to me about the shirts is the fact that they're bright green and that they have the big black W.I.S.H on them (along with the REALLY GREAT slogan on the back). If the shades of the shirts are slightly different, I just assumed that it was because some people's shirts had faded or come from different dye lots.

So to me, both the classic and the park-decorated shirts maintain those crucial elements. If possible, I'd like to see them both still available for purchase, so that people have the option of not wearing a disney-specific shirt in non-disney races. Yes I know they'd be slightly different colors, but they're still really bright green!

[If I had to pick one, I'd probably pick the classic so that it's multi-functional...but I love the design on the new one as well!]

Carrie
I just replied to you on the eye 2 eye thread Bill started...

Keep in mind Kate was working to incorporate the needs of the original design so this option isnt the final option...

I guess I'll go and cut and paste my opinion as to why this should be considered an option...

I am thinking that the design is too Disney specific. I don't think I would be comfortable wearing it to races other than Disney. I think that using the icons will cause problems with Disney. I am certain they are licensed. I don't care for the icons on the back, anyway. They jumble together and make the words look muddy to me.

I think a cooler shirt is called for. I would also like to see tech hoodie! But I love our current design and I think it says Disney without smacking you on the forehead V-8 style. And the "Mickey Bars" on the runners looks like bad hair days. -- I know this sounds really negative. And I am really sorry it does!

Has anyone considered using the feather as the background? That way we don't lose "We can fly" but we can make it a Kewl graphic!

Steff, there are no mickey bars, that was an idea that we joked around with..

I'm going to step away, I think this medium may not be understood -

I believe with my whole heart that NO ONE intends to hurt anyone's feelings... but its going to be tough.

Wow, no offense was meant to anyone and I liek the design. It just seems liek 3 kinds of shirts is getting a bit overboard and if there is a different design, all should have a say.

Sadly, eye2eye took a very long time to get back to Mel. In teh meantime, it seemed like everyone was happy with RaceReady adn alertshirt was still an option for larger sizes. Now that there is another option it seems like everyone shoud eb invited to comment.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the shirt in the OP - but I'm sure it violates copyright laws. Is the company really willing to make these??

It took about 15 minutes for Cafe Press to pull shirts with the logo in my sig that our EB Repo Cruise Meet thread was going to order. We did find another company that didn'tsomuch mind the copyright infringement.

WOW! I am beginning to feel like this is more trouble then it's worth and the "team" aspect sounds like it's one way or the highway....

Here's my solution.

Each of you dealing with the T shirts start a new thread. Something like "Final order for Race Ready" "Final Order for Eye2Eye" etc. Let folks order. (If you want to be really fair. link to the each other's threads!) Set a deadline.....say next Wed. That gives everyone all of this weekend and the better part of next week. Most folks will be on here at least once. (Maybe the mods could make these three threads short term stickies!)

And go. Everyone will realize there are three options and they can just order what they want.

If someone fails to get a mininum then they can notify thier "signees" so they can pick another option.

Looks like mid Feb is the deadline on most of these for the Minnie right? So if you posted the three threads today that would give most folks the better part of a week.

No, they won't all match. So what? It's not like we are Team in Training trying to raise money for a cause!

There is no way on a message board like this to build a concensus unless you want to post a poll and winner take all (and then some folks will pout because thier shirt lost so that's just not worth the hassle)

I do think there is a big risk on the Eye2Eye shirts that there are copyright violations..

Many printers will not print dsigns that are possible copyright infringements. I was actually surprised that eye2eye printed teh mouse ears adn feet on teh shirt we saw at the marathon. DOn't knwo where the line is drawn.

Just out of curiosity, what about our current shirt says Disney? The quill pen on the back used in the filming of Swamp Fox episodes. OK, I admit that was extreme, but there is absolutely nothing in or on the current shirt that hints at Disney. Also, part of the reason some were originally drawn to this company was the Disney graphics on the Canadian running team's shirt.

I promise not to post any more on this thread because I really do not intend or mean to make this be anything other than a discussion and I already expressed my views above.

that's not a reason not to post here, everyone's views are really important in this decision. There are a lot of things about picking a shirt that i hadn't considered until others pointed them out so it's crucial to say what you feel without any need for being 'mean' or whatever. You're absolutely right we need a shirt that suits all so all need to be involved somehow. :teacher:

Sandy, I thought the "Mickey Bars" were ears and they are on the runners, in the picture I was looking at. I am terribly sorry if I mistook it for something else! I wasn't following the orginal thread very closely.

I dont' think anyone demanded one way or the hiway. Everyone has opinions I would probably get the eye2eye one if it didn't have the icons on it. I don't want to use copywritten material, and I can't begin to imagine what the licensing fees are!

1. copyright infringement - Kate discussed this - she has been involved with the Disboards DISigns thread from the beginning - she stated that Disney is fine if you use a photograph of the icons that is yours, NOT one copied from a disney webslte, or copied from a photographer - she respects Disney and would NOT use copyright infringement...

2. Bill started a thread - enough interest was met - we each contacted and received replies from eye2eye - a final shirt design has NOT been done!

3. from my experience its NO longer about "the shirt"

our family learned a lesson, a hard lesson when my dh thought he was helping solve a dispute over a "glove"... my son was so hurt - I yelled at dh "ITS NOT ABOUT THE GLOVE" he said.. um. what is it about? so when we get off on anger, or hurt feelings someone always says "ITS NOT ABOUT THE GLOVE" in our family it lightens the mood... so I add that here...

4. So if its not about "the shirt" what is it about? Belonging. and fair doesnt mean equal. Its not fair I cant fit into the RR shirts, or its not fair RR doesnt provide my size... does anyone remember a discussion about a shoe company that stated I was not a runner? that's how I feel about these shirts... I am not a runner, that's why they dont make them in my size. THIS WISH TEAM says different, they say I am a runner, they made me believe in ME.. and I truly appreciate that.

5. I think if I had a REAL shirt, and modeled it, took pictures and posted (like was done with the RR ready shirts) then we could vote.

instead, its going south real fast...

I have no investment in the shirts beyond talking with those who want the shirts and incorporating those ideas into a shirt...

right now we are playing with designs...waiting to get the template so we can see if we have to put the icons together or seperately - or if they need to be darker or lighter...

there is an email into Disney legal about the icons but my DH is an attorney and generally speaking they can't copyright personal photos that are used in a design...

There seems to be a lot of people who want an option larger than what is currently being offered and they want the Disney design included...Bill has also asked for a more generic design without the Disney in it for other races and people who don't want too much Disney...

Right now many people are excluded from wearing the WISH shirts and this is an opportunity to give the option for more people to order - and the intent is to get the opinions of those who wish to order those shirts on the designs so that everyone is happy...

I agree with Carol that the best idea might just to have all the options out there...the nice thing about eye2eye is that once the design is on file - anyone can order it anytime - there are no minimums - so people can order them whenever they want and don't have to worry about missing order deadlines...

I saw several other organizations with the lime green on at the marathon - so it seems to me seeing the WISH is and always will be your "brand" - does it really matter how many different shirts it is on?
