Hi,
Lurker on these boards for quite some time. I hear everyone 'buy where you want to stay' with the BCV being one of the most popular resorts with a $95/point resale value.

We would want to stay close to the parks. DTD holds little appeal for DH, DSs, or I. MGM is my favoite park.

BW resales seem to be between $80-90 per point which would let us buy more points for the same total cost than BCV.

We are looking at purchasing between 200-250 points.

Here are the questions:
Is BW comparable in style to BCV?

Would we be just as happy either place (we never have spent much time in our room at WDW)?

Any considerations for one resort over the other?

Is it best to purchase 150 points and a 100 pt add on or all points at once? Our DSs are 15 1/2 now.

Thanks!!

What about splitting the points into two contracts - one at each resort?

How much time does your family want to spend in a pool? If you are big pool people, access to SAB is a consideration:

Personally,if I was choosing between the two, I'd purchase BWV simply it offers a standard view that uses less points and therefore, the 11 month window would be a factor in getting what I wanted when I wanted it. We like to go often, and so BCV is a one-in-a-while splurge in terms of points. Even if I owned there, since we spend most of our time doing stuff not hanging out in the room, I'd want the option of that cheaper standard view.

Here is an idea of the comparison of points per week during Dream season (summer)

BWV - 1 bedroom
Standard View - 210
Preferred View - 252

BCV - 1 bedroom - 252

Buy where you want to stay the most. BCV has no grand villas - largest villa sleeps 8. BWV has 6 GV that sleep 12. If that is important to you, buy BWV.

If you want to swim in Stormalong Bay a lot, then you might want to choose BCV.

If you want to be on the BW, choose BWV since that BW view goes pretty fast at 11 months out. If you want to be able to conserve your points, go for BWV so you can try for the standard view for fewer points than BCV.

If you like the nightlife, go for BWV. If you like it a little more quiet and subdued, go for BCV.

If you drive and want to park close to your villa, go for BCV.

Basically the rooms are very similar, just the decor is a bit different in color and furniture.

If you buy smaller contracts, you can easily sell one off at a later time if you decide you dont' want to do DVC as much. You can't break up a contract yourself. Only Disney can do that.

We own most of our points at BWV, for the standard view points, and it's worth it to us. However, I didn't realize the importance of having 2 Q's in a 2 bedroom, and BWV doesn't have any of those. All of BWV's 2 bedrooms are lock offs. Now, BCV doesn't have many 2 bedrooms with 2 Q's but it would be a factor now that we have DGC. It's important to our DS and his family.

Another little thing to consider is that BWV has a Community Hall, BCV does not. I'm sure this one thing is not going to be a deal breaker or anything, but something to throw in there when looking at the pros and cons of each resort. We have owned at BWV for six years, and my boys (who are now 15 and 16) have spent time in there during every visit. Between ping pong, air hockey, and video games, they love hanging out there!

I asked my boys if they wanted me to try to book BCV for our last visit for something different (we have stayed at the YC before so they have been in Stormalong Bay), but neither of them wanted to give up BWV.

We've stayed at BCV's a few times and just came back from BWV's. We were debating the pros and cons most of which are already covered. The main ones were location (BWV is a bit better), pools (BCV has SAB), and parking (a longer hike in at BWV). We own at OKW but split our stays each year. We'll probably stay at BCV's next year since we just did BWV's.

These resorts are close and share the pretty much the same location. To me these are the most important differences of owning one over the other (other then taste).

BCV:
SAB
Dedicated 2 bedrooms (1/3 with 2 Queens) - they go first
Close self-parking

BWV:
BW view
Standard view
GV's
Community Hall

Boy I seem to have posted in the right place!! Thank you for all your advice. Sounds like BWV may be the best choice for our 'home' with stays at BCV when we can. I know the boys would love the community hall at Boardwalk.

Now about that use year..... :-) I'll post that in a new thread!
