Isn't it in Disney's best interest to make sure that people who might otherwise be renting units from Disney or buying
DVC aren't buying the same units from RCI renters on Ebay for a quarter of the price that Disney would charge? I suppose that you could argue that the same would go for DVC members renting points, but that is not against the rules. It IS against the rules of both RCI and II to rent out an exchange and is IS RCI's responsibility to make sure that their exchanges aren't being rented (since it is clearly against their rules).
Either way, I see the cheap Ebaying of RCI exchanges as undercutting both the rental and resale DVC markets, and I think that the "value" that DVC has held for so long is going to go south more than it already has lately. JMHO, but I think that if you ever had it in the back of your mind that you might sell your DVC someday if you needed the $$, now might be the time to try to do it.
Even if you think that you want to own your DVC points forever, never rent them out, and will them to your kids, you have to admit that circumstances do change. That is why I think that anything that undercuts the rental or resale markets should concern anyone who owns DVC.
