FURminator!??!?!

I've been looking at them but they are pricey. Has anybody tried it on a double coated dog like a husky?

Yes, we have one - it took me 8 months to get over the sticker shock of a pet brush being $27 and finally get one!!!   I wouldn't even pay that much for a human brush but this brush is so worth it. :thumbsup2

I was just going to ask how much they cost in the US.

I am in Canada and after reading this thread I went looking for one today.

I found them but they were $60.00 for the medium sized brush:faint:

I am going to be in the US this weekend, so maybe I will look for one while I am there.

OK, I'm sold.

I never expected my lab mix to shed SOOOO much!!! It's crazy! AND we have a cat, so the dust bunnies look more like dust grizzly bears. Our couch (AKA the "dog bed") is constantly covered with dog hair.

I would LOVE to eliminate some of the shedding!

I've started to furminate the couch too!!

:worship: I love mine and so does my two golden retriever and my two domestic short hairs... and so does my allegeries... my little Chiweenie even gets jealous..:cloud9:

I WILL be getting one of these tomorrow. I can't take it anymore. The dog hair in this house is at an all time high. I have a collie/shep mix, a lab/hound mix, plus a poodle mix (who doesn't shed). I have a floor broom like you see at the mall that I push around every morning to collect the hair. I swear I sweep up a dog's worth of hair every morning.

Is there anyone here who has used this on Shelties? My two leave their clumps of fur all over the house and I'm getting so tired of vacuuming it all up!

I have too! :lmao: That is until I figured out my short hair cat's shedding cycle. She seems to shed in 48 hour cycles. So I have to brush her with the Furminator for 2 days straight. Then I don't have to brush her for a few days. :thumbsup2

Before the Furminator, I too had those tumbleweeds of of dust bunnies floating around. And she has SHORT hair! No matter how much I brushed her, it was never enough. I would pet her after a brushing and hair would still come off in my hand.

Now, with the Furminator, the hair comes off in the brush, and that's IT - until the next brushing.

   I suggest you buy quite a few and sell them on eBay.ca if there is one up there.

For those of you who still aren't convinced, like those with the double haired dogs, see some of the YouTube videos of people brushing their pets. The first one really looks like shearing a sheep! (Only there's still hair on the dog.) I think it is a husky type dog, too. YouTube: Furminator

Buy from Amazon. It's free shipping over $25 and you can return it. :)

I need to check that out for my little healer/terrier mix. I literally sweep up mountains of white hair every day and when I vaccuum the couches I fill the canister on my vaccuum cleaner twice! I add "Missing Link" to her food every day which helps for a while but loses its effectiveness after a month or two.
I'm definitley gonna check into this!

A friend of mine told me about this a while back. This thread reminded me that I have been meaning to buy one for my cats.

And oh wow  :thumbsup2. I bought a very similar product (the "Furbuster" http://www.bamboopet.com/all_products/detail.php?ID=1047394242&nID=2z1) today at Walmart for around $19 for the medium size. As soon as I got home I tried it out on our 2 big short-haired cats. It worked just like on those Furminator videos. That is truly amazing! If they haven't already done so, they should do a "Deal or Dud" about this on our local Fox channel. It's rare for a product to work just as well as a promotional video makes it look.

We got one a couple months ago. We were looking for a brush for our cats and were about to get a cheap one when we figured, hey if this brush is $40, it has to be good, so we got it and it was. I can't believe how much hair it gets off and I also can't believe how soft the cats are afterward.

The only problem is that because of the static it creates, once I take the fur off the brush, I sometimes can't get it off my hand.

I have got to order one. My german shepherd sheds like crazy. I'm assuming that the size really doesn't have much to do with how big of a dog you have - just that the comb is wider.

I now clean the brush off directly into a paper napkin or piece of toilet paper. Open up a napkin. After you have brushed, fold the napkin around the brush and pull the hair directly into the fold of the napkin and press the napkin so the hair is in a compressed bunch. This way it's not flying around & loose, for when you repeat and clean the brush after the next brushful.

I can now brush my kitty when she's sitting next to me on the couch, (instread of chasing her around,) without having hair flying all over the place.

Right, you don't want a brush so small that it takes you 3 hours to furminate your German shepard. Likewise, if you have a dog whose fur tends to matt up & tangle, you might want a smaller brush to deal with a smaller area more effectively.

ok so now I need to know, does it have a rubber handle or is it made of something else?

I really would like to look into this with 2 dogs and 2 cats now Its going to be a tumbleweed paradise around here if I dont do something quick!

The handle is hard rubber. It also has a plastic cover for the brush blades when you aren't using it.

My dogs have been FURminated.

One word....AMAZING

We just spent the last hour on the two dogs. I just can't believe it.

It was worth every penny of the $60. Petco was completely out of them, I had to go to Petsmart.

And to top it off, the dogs loved every minute of it to the point one of them was trying to worm his way in when we were working on the other. It must feel good to them.

Has anyone used this! OH MY! I thought it was a joke...this little odd looking comb!
I borrowed from a friend. I have a yellow lab. It got so much hair off! I couldn't believe it! Best of all the next day we had less shedding! It took all her corse hair out! Left her with soft fur!
The thing cost about $50 at pet smart! But online it is around $30...
I must have one!

You buy it from QVC. i've seen it lots of times and only recently realized that Jenn Pierce who does the demonstration for it was in my class in school:rotfl: Her dog and cat sit so still and look tlike the love it. When I get a dog I'm getting the furminator
