Funny thing about DVC...

Before I bought DVC, my Disney trips were usually planned within 30 days of a trip, several within th same week, and Labor Day last year at 4:30 the same afternoon. I was concerned that DVC wouldn't let me be flexible. Now I've got ressies for June, Oct, and as of yesterday for Thanksgiving!!! Ya'll had me worried about getting ressies for holidays so I made them at the 11 month window. I'm hoping to move it to VWL in 4 months, hope that's equally as easy???

Has anyone else changed their vacation habits to suit DVC? It's actually kind of nice now having a goal of a certain date instead of just working 'til "Dang, I gotta get outta here...."

Just to let you know-I made ressies yesterday at VWL for Thanksgiving, since that's our home resort. I also want to change in 4 months to either BCV or BWV standard view, so that might benefit you. Anyone got ressies at either of those 2 who'll want to switch and make those of us who may get onto a waiting list happy?

Cool, we just need someone at BCV or BWV that wants to stay at OKW and we'll have it made. I have a BCV contract also but used my OKW points for this ressie. Used the BCV for the other two.

mb168,

Prior to joining DVC, our two prior trips were both planned within 2 months of going. And prior to that, I kept saying, "let's wait till the kids get a little older." Well, they were 14 and 10 the first time they went. Do you think that's old enough? LOL. I booked our first DVC BCV trip 11 months out, and even though it seems like a long time, the time is actually flying! But I like having the extra time to play with different plans and travel arrangements. It's not as hectic, but just as exciting.

Enjoy your trips, hope your 4 month switch comes through for you!

11 Months Out: That spells one long word for us

I agree! The anticipation of the trip is almost as fun as the actual trip. People at my office are the spur of the moment (if ever) vacationers. They think that I am hilarious asking for vacation time anywhere from a year to 7 months out. But you know what? When the day gets tough all I have to do is look at my calendar with my countdown to the next trip and I feel better knowing I will be at Disney in 129 days. Looking forward to a vacation is what keeps me sane some days. Hopefully those of you that were spur of the moment planners will feel the same way now that DVC has changed your vacation habits. Just be careful DVC is addictive and contagious.;)

eva,

I think we work at the same place. My boss thinks I'm nuts that I can plan so far ahead. I had my vacation request for 2004 filled in by Thanksgiving of this year. He's really spur of the moment and then gets mad when our schedules conflict (since we both can't be out of the office at the same time).

I like the fact that I know how much something is going to cost with DVC and I can play around with the numbers. Do we want to do a studio or a one bedroom? Would it be better to go in May or December? Etc.

I also like that on bad days I can look at my calendar and know that I have a Disney or DVC trip planned soon!

I always planned vacations at least 9 months out through a travel agent. That way the trip was completely paid for 60 days prior to going. DVC has just made it easier for me since all I have to worry about now is airfare! Annmarie

Th only thing is, I hate looking at my countdown and seeing its 6 months before I go again. So I think I can't go until then because I've got three trips planned so there's no need to go until then... Guess I'll have to go somewhere else for a "spur of the moment trip.
