Thanks Steph - fun thread and some very unusual expressions!
I thought that "fair to middlin'" was a Northern England expression and "get your goat" I've heard many times over here too!

I've had quite a chuckle at these but it made me wonder if anyone had come accross a word my family use for knots in the hair - pogs. I was in my late teens when I found out that no-one else uses the word. I've come across pognophobia - a fear of beards - but not pogs.

Anyone ever heard of it? (My grandmother is from Suffolk if that helps)

Well, I couldn't believe my eyes! Steph, bless her heart, linked up this wonderful thread. Now I gots to say, that I felt a little like a long tailed cat in a room full of rockin chairs wonderin' what y'all would think. But I could tell y'all were just pleased as punch and that tickled my innerds.

Well I could just rattle on all day like a snake in the desert but I'm beginin' to feel like a fish on a bicycle and since I've been told on more than one occasion that I'm not the smartest dog in the pen, I'd better just scadaddle myself outta here

It was that time of day when my curiosity started to pique as to what might be new on the UK Community board.

Imagine my delight at the sight of Steph's post! That girl is so sweet! Well, admittedly, I was a bit apprehensive as to what the email's acceptance level would be in the UK, but was jubliant to see how well accepted it was

Excited as I was to respond to the post, I wanted to maintain a certain level of decorum. Afraid of talking too much, I've decided it would be in my best interest to bid ye farewell.
