Funny Signs

I was at the doctor's office yesterday and I stopped into the hospital's cafeteria for lunch. At the hot entree counter, there was a sign saying that today's entree was pulled pork. At the bottom of it, it said, "Happy Passover." I thought that was funny and I commented on it to the dr in front of me. He thought it was funny, too.

I went to an auction 2 weeks ago. There was a silent auction item for "Custom Lasik Surgery." I commented to the women next to me that I guess that was a good thing, since they wouldn't spin a wheel to decide what prescription they'd give you. I'm glad I opted for the "custom" surgery last year!

What have you seen that is funny lately?

Near us, the DOT has to replace signs that are rather popular to steal... They are signs for the exit to the village of "Climax". Several years ago the village had citizens voted on a proposal (it failed) to change the village's name because it was costing them too much money to replace the village-limits signs!

Another good one is a sign just north of the Illinois/Wisconsin border on I-94 from a state park called the "Bong Recreation Area"!

The town we used to live in had signs at the entrances to a couple of parking lots that said "When this sign is folded up, all vehicles will be towed." I always wondered how you were supposed to know that when it was folded up and covered the message.

There's a sign at a candy store I go to in Maine that says, "Unattended children will be turned into chocolate."

And a sign at a diner in New Hampshire says, "No cell phones or cry babies."

It's not there anymore, but about 20 yrs ago we used to pass a sign that made me laugh every time I saw it. My in-laws live in Lancaster County...what people call Amish country and there are many signs for fruits, veggies, quilts, etc. But along route 23 a couple miles before you get to Blue Ball, there was a sign for Revival Hemorhoid Salve. I'm not sure the name did much for their sales...

Every time we drive to Austin, I giggle when we pass a sign for a place called "Bug Tussle".

I have a friend who lives in Round Rock and near her house is a road called Hairy Man.

I think I'm going to have to put this sign on the eggs in our refrigerator for Saturday morning. Then, I'll ask one of the kids to get them for me. I'm curious to see if they will "get" it.

This will show an immature side to us, but I laugh everytime I take my kids to the dr. There is a sign that is SUPPOSED to say - Speed Bump Ahead, but someone has crossed out several letters so it now reads:

I used to live in a town that had a merchant who had a sign up reading "Marelli's Fruit and Real Estate." I always wanted to go in and tell them I needed a peach and a condominium.

There's an antique store near us that has a sign that reads "Unattended children will be given a puppy and an expresso".

I like the one this friend of ours put in his bar. It says, "Free Drinks Tomorrow." Of course, upi can never get your free drink b/c you come in and uh oh, gotta wait til tomorrow for my free drink...And the cycle continues...
