Having always lived in the northeast, I didn't realize "sneakers" was so uncommon!

I’m from the Midwest. I have always called them sneakers.
Grew up in NJ & DE, went to school in VA & live in MD - we've always called them and always heard them referred to as sneakers as well. My boys wore tennis shoes - for playing tennis! They weren't their regular sneakers though.I’m from the Midwest. I have always called them sneakers.
We make it even simplier and say "tennies" (Minnesota)
The worst one for me of the above pics was climbing that stupid rope in PE. I was the only one in class who couldn't climb the darn thing. I was always the last one to do the rope because the teacher knew I'd take all day to get a foot off the ground, LOL.
