Funny Memes

You guys all were a bunch of wimps. Back in the 50's that is what made it an adventure and ours were massively easier to fall off to the ground. I'm sure it must have taken its toll though because those of us that used to brave that in the 50's tend to look quite elderly today.
Mmmmmm we had the same slides as you, if you think someone was putting in new equipment in the 70s with stagflation and gas lines I have a nice bridge for sale ;) pffft the same libraries too.

We got nothing new other than music and even then we had garage bands because the radio wouldn't even play anything not out of Vietnam.

Whatevs it makes good stories, I nearly died at Traction Park in NJ when I was like 9, great documentaryScreenshot 2024-07-30 at 4.30.14 PM.png

This was my buddy's dog. His wife was so ticked, not so much that the dog brought the sprinkler in but more in the fact that his first thought was to take a picture of it instead of getting the dirty dog and running sprinkler out of her clean house 🤣😂

We never told her that he recorded it for like a good minute before he actually did anything 😂🤣 somewhere in the backup history of my phone, I have that video.

We were like 8 & 9 years old, remember this was back before Ralph Nader made us think about safety so it was a free for all & the bars were just wide enough to hurt a kid.

This is funny but true, now its food they fast freddy.
I'm just trying to picture it. I was born in 1948 and as a kid all the playgrounds were what would now be called terminal. I don't remember the "monkey bars" looking any different than that picture. I know of no one that ever had anymore than a bruise. In fact I never noticed anyone getting hurt until my children were at playground age and then I saw a young girl fall from a tall slide and broke her arm. Her parents although rightfully concerned spent all the prep-time to get her to the ER scolding her for going on the slide after they had told her not too. As a parent all one has to do is turn your head in the opposite direction for less than a minute and your child will make like they never heard you. How most of the people my age ever made it past 10 years old is nothing short of a miracle.

I agree, it is a miracle we survived those things but they were fun. I don't think monkey bars are even a thing anymore unless you are in an older neighborhood, they don't let kids play Dodge Ball or Red rover in gym either anymore I heard. Red Rover and a strong fast 8th grader boy was a massive 20 kid pile up on the blacktop with cuts and bruises for all, we all laughed but now soap has instructions so new world

We didn't have grass in the city, my school emptied out the fenced in parking lot for gym & recess and us kids all just steel cage matched it through the day, no nurse so cuts got a splash from the water fountain and off we'd go.

Our playgrounds were the same as these, no updates in NYC while I was there.

Knowing that this is not going to be received well, Dodge Ball was not all that terrible. What it did do for me at least was teach me how to not get hurt and that was to just go into it and catch it or as the name implies "dodge it". I remember the first time I discovered that, after being afraid to get hit for a long time I just decided I didn't want to have it hurt nor did I want to be out. I discovered that running toward it and catching it square on my abdomen and arms didn't hurt at all and I usually made it to the end. What a trip that was. Did the same thing with softball and pool. I was very week in both and practiced by myself for months and when I finally went back in the rotations I was hitting over their heads (softball) and running the table on them (pool). For 40 years now I have been trying to play golf the same way I overcame those other three and I'm here to tell you that golf is a whole lot harder.

My daughter who hasn't played more than 30 rounds in her life went out last year and got a hole in one. I have been playing golf pretty much regularly for 40 years without coming even close. I hate that game and it hates me!
