Funny guy, even in death - I had no idea that was on his gravestone. He was one of the greats!

The irony is that he was known mostly for playing romantic leading men and other serious roles until he was cast in "Airplane!". When asked later about being cast against type for that movie, he replied that it was his earlier roles that had cast him against type because he had always wanted to do comedy but nobody had ever cast him in one before then.

And they nailed it with him in Airplane! too. I mean, it's gotta be one of the funniest movies of all time! Actually, there was a scientific study once that crowned Airplane! as the number one "laughs per minute" film of all time, however Blazing Saddles was not included in the study so I call foul.
