I was just reading the other (not funny) thread about the lost bus driver and thought I'd start a thread about funny experiences on Disney buses.

We had this older gentleman driving us back to Pop after closing one night and he decided it was time for Disney trivia. He (and us) were having a great time. This went on for about 15 minutes. Then all of a sudden he stops with his trivia to ask "what resort are we going to?"...we all cracked up. We felt bad for the guy afterwards as we think he was really embarrassed....it was funny. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

That reminds me of our last trip to Disney, but it wasn't our bus driver . . . it was our stewardess. We fly out of our town airport for the first leg of our journey and sometimes have to stop at other town airports before flying to Minneapolis to get on a REAL plane (the first one is a 30 seater).

So we get in the air at 4 AM and land in Aberdeen, South Dakota, where we are on the ground for about half an hour. The plane is closing up to take off again and the stewardess starts her schpiel . . . "Thank you for flying Mesaba Air flight number . . . flight number . . . oh forget it, we're going to Minneapolis. Anyone not going to Minneapolis? Okay, we're all good then."

When me and dh went on our honeymoon in 2004 we had the weirdest experience with a bus driver. I think we were coming back from dtd and we were the only ones on the bus. He knew we were on our honeymoon because we were wearing our ears. Anyway, he told us he was divorced. Then he goes on to tell us he has a little boy. Then...and here's were it got weird and a bit inappropriate...he says to us "I should have known my marriage was doomed from the start because we didn't consumate it on our wedding night"!

I almost died. I mean I'm not uptight so it didn't bother me...it's just not something you think you'll hear from a Disney bus driver.

I think Disney bus drivers are infamous for saying things you never thought you'd hear. I get so much dirt on how the parks are run from the bus drivers. And I mean dirt, they can tell employee gossip stories like you wouldn't believe! :rotfl:

OK, just don't wear the "newlywed" ears. ;)

The most memorable Disney bus experience wasn't originally going to be funny. Me and my friend (16 at the time) met some girls at MGM and they were really nice, so we went with them to the All-Star Sports Resort cause that's where they were staying. We hung out by the pool and then looked at our watches and it was 1 a.m!!!!!! We ran to the bus area and of course none came for a long time. Then after 20 minutes we saw one of those Disney buses with "Special" on their signs. We begged the lady to take us back to the Contemporary. Well she was so happy to do it that we talked about Disney myths and funny experiences she had while working at WDW while me and my friend just lounged around cause we were the only ones in there! :rotfl2: , luckily his mom was asleep in her own room by the time we got back, she never knew about it ;)

No real "funny" story from me. Just interesting. I rarely ride the buses because we rent a car. But usually we'll be on a few each trip for whatever reason. Anyway, I usually will strike up a conversation with folks sitting near us, and I always ask where they are from. I'm waiting to hear that they're from somewhere interesting or at least far away from (my) home. It never ever fails that the people I decide to chat with are from the next town over from us in one direction or another. And I'm always disappointed. LOL So, if you're from Oregon or Hawaii or Texas or something and you see me, please say hi. LOL It will make my trip!

Pittsburghians need not apply.

We are from Oregon AND Alaska AND it looks as though we will be in the parks at the same time next month! Hope we get on the same bus sometime...now where is that lime green Mickey head? :goodvibes

Well, not funny, but on the thread of how Disney bus drivers are full of information...

I never knew about the deal with MK traffic being closed down (around the perimeter of the park) during the fireworks until a bus driver explained it to me. If you get a good bus driver, they'll talk your ear off.

Or maybe not so good in the case of the newlyweds. :p

That's a great story! :wizard:

And so nice of the bus driver to take you back at 1am too :teeth:

The first night of our honeymoon, we went to PI for a few libations, and a little adventurer's club. The bus driver on the way back was just being hilarious talking about the job, working for the company and everytime we passed a sign, he would say "there's another one of those giant mouse ears".

The next morning, We went to AK, and he was our driver on Kilamanjaro.

Exactly WHAT KIND OF and HOW MANY "libations" did you have?

We had a great bus driver one morning heading from OKW to Epcot. As soon as we got on the bus (we were seated right up front), the bus driver asked my DS4 if he wanted to drive the bus. DS said "No, thank you." The bus driver kept asking him if he was sure. He even offered to get DS a booster seat so he could see over the wheel. It was really funny because we all knew the driver was just joking around, but DS wasn't sure. So, the driver decided to drive. As we're riding along, DS and DD6 decide to pretend that they're on a roller coaster and they start putting their arms up in the air and saying "No hands!" The bus driver told them he could do "no hands" too and asked them if they wanted him to try it. They said no!

It was a fun ride to Epcot. The kids thought it was as much fun as some of the "real" rides.

One time about 2 years ago we were on a bus headed for MK and we had a bus driver who asked everybody to sing Disney songs and we all did we sang "Zip a dee do da" ( I apologize for the bad spelling) and we all sang well when we got to MK he made us all wait to get off the bus and as we started to leave he wished us a magical day and blew bubbles on us and it was the best Disney bus experience I've ever had.

This is more a fun story than funny but why not I think I posted this on another thread anyway, we were on the bus to MK when our bus driver started asking us trivia. He also got the entire bus to sing as we were driving down the road it was cool. Right before we got off the bus the driver wishes us a magical day also he begins to blow bubbles at us and makes us stay on so we each get a bubble. It was pretty cool as I said its a fun story not a funny, sorry.

Last year. About 11:30am.

We wanted to go to MK from DAK (one of those direct buses between parks).

We board the bus that says TTC (or whatever) because that's where the buses from PARKS take guests going to MK.

En route, our driver is passing by Typhoon Lagoon and he just makes the turn to go into TL.
I'm thinking THIS is odd, and at that moment the driver says, "Oh, I'm sorry. This is not where I should have turned. I just did it out of habit."
He tells everyone that he will go on thru the TL bus stop area and pick up anyone there that is heading our way, and apologizes again.

There are only about 10 people riding with us so I yell-out (kidding) "Well, you owe us a FREE TRIP to the Magic Kingdom."
(As though anyone is ever CHARGED for the trip, anyway.)

No new riders at TL and we are on our way with no more than 3 minutes added to the total trip due to our added "loop" thru TL.

As stated above, only RESORT buses go to the loading area directly at the MK front gate. All other buses go to TTC, and riders must exit and go to MK via monorail or ferry.

Well, our bus driver turned and asked me, "You said you wanted to go to Magic Kingdom?"
I said, "Yup!".
And he drove right past TTC and took us to the very edge of the bus area at MK (closest to the front gate) and opened the doors.

I was very surprised and thanked him as my DW and I (and the others on the bus) exited. That little "joke" I yelled out saved us at least 20 minutes of TTC-to-MK riding.

So if you want to go someplace SPECIFIC in WDW, be sure to tell your bus driver, he just MIGHT take you there.

Mine isn't about a bus driver. It's about a Friendship boat driver. His name is Todd, and we have had him on a couple of different trips. He started doing trivia, and then gave out some tips. There was a huge group of grad night people who didn't know the first thing about fastpasses. He was very entertaining, and then asked the group what we should do about all the little boats wizzing around the Epcot Resort area. He said, "I like o run them over." He grabbed the wheel, jerked it sideways, and came close to running them over but swerved away. It was great.

Once we boarded our bus at MK to head back to POFQ for a break. As we sat down we noticed a toddler sized shoe on the floor. My DH announced "Anyone lose a shoe?" Nobody did. But everyone started looking around and out the windows at the people heading toward to MK entrance. We spied the poor victim and his family- he was about 3, walking with one shoe on, one shoe off. His mother and father each carried a baby and there was another child a bit older. My DH ran out of the bus toward the family- they were pretty far away by now. He dodged and weaved and when he finally reached them, the whole bus cheered. DH said when he gave the shoe to the mom- she said to the boy 'Why didn't you tell me you lost your shoe?" and the kid said "You told me not ask for anything." (I am guessing they had a talk about souveniers :rotfl2: ) Anyway when DH got back on the bus everyone gave him a round of applause- it was pretty funny.
