Funniest Memory On A Ride

Back in the early days of Space Mountain, the seats were sort of like a toboggan with everyone seated in a row (sort of on the flat bottom of the car) with two sections per car. The ride was DARK with no way to see the track ahead even when your eyes got accustomed to the blackness. Surely there were some sort of restraints, but they didn't work as well as I would have liked. I was in the front section with DDad, and DSister was with her husband in the section behind us. I was slipping forward with Dad crushing into me throughout the ride. DSister and husband got fairly smashed around as well. When we got off, Dbrother-in-law said "That was like getting mugged in a dark closet."

Last year on Splash, at the bottom just before we got out of our log the little boy in front of us said to his mother very loudly, "that made me fart 2 times!".

BTMRR, with my friend Cathy. A man that looked like he just stepped out of The Sopranos or The Godfather seated behind us. BIG, stoic, muscle bound assassin looking guy. Up up up up to the top of the first hill and.....

He starts screaming his head off like a girl! High pitched SCREAMS. We look back and he has the front of the car in a death grip.

The second big hill in between screams are panicked shouts of "&^%$#@!*&^%^%"

The F Bomb in combinations never previously imagined. Cathy and I are now being knocked from side to side in the car because we are laughing too hysterically to hang on.

The ride ends, the Mafia Man has full composure and he looks at us and says (as if we had NO idea!), "That ride scared the sh** out of me," and walks off.

These are making me laugh so hard.

I can think of a few- I'm sure there are probably more.

We were on the monorail and DD was 4 or 5. She was totally dancing with, around, and on the pole and DH, being a Dad of a daughter, was totally freaking out. He kept telling her to stop and she had no clue why and would just start doing it again. Everyone around us knew why and they were all trying their best not to burst out laughing, but there were plenty of giggles. He finally said "just promise me you won't make a career out of it when you grow up" and the whole car lost it.

Another one that made me laugh was years ago when my then 70 something year old grandmother who doesn't speak much English and was visiting Florida and WDW for the first time insisted on riding Space Mountain. She had a bowl type (think European) haircut and I will never forget the coaster stopping at the end, and looking at her and she had an inverted bowl. Her hair had flipped and was going the opposite direction totally covering her face. I wish I had a picture. As she got out (totally freaked out and a little shaky and disheveled) we looked at her and my Dad giggled and said said "Again?" and she said "NO!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO".

I also have a hilarious one of my terrified of heights and scared of roller coasters friend, when she got brave enough to ride EE with me. She got off and said she loved it and would do it again, but when we looked at the photo, she looked terrified, her eyes were squeezed shut and it looked like she was clenching every muscle in her body. I can't post it because she would absolutely kill me!

My funniest ride memory is from of IASW.

A group of college age guys loaded onto one of the boats together. Right where the boat goes around the bend at the start of the ride, they all raised their arms at once like it was a roller coaster and started yelling "here we go, and wheee!"

It was sooo funny; and with that goofy song playing in the background, I just couldn't stop laughing!!! The CMs found it pretty amusing too, and were egging them on a bit.

I have a cute Space Mountain story. When I was little, my family went on Space Mountain during a trip. I must have been just old enough to ride, and sat in front of my dad in the old toboggan-style car. I was so scared that I kept my eyes closed the whole time. When the ride ended, I turned to my dad and said, "I'm NEVER going on that again!". My grandpa - a big, serious trucker - said, "Me too, Jen. Me too." It still makes me smile to think of him being scared on that ride.

I was not born yet nor even a thought in my parents mind but to this day the story makes me laugh...

My parents were on their honeymoon and neither had been to Disney before so on their way back from the Keys they decided to go for a couple days. They were getting off the raft at Tom Sawyer Island and my mom was studying the park map. Well, she though my dad was standing right in front of her (she didn't take her eyes off the map) and as they started walking grabbed the back pocket of the pants she thought were my dads for him to lead the way. Haha obviously they weren't and she got whacked by the man whose pants she grabbed. He thought she was trying to pick pocket him haha. She was shocked and tried to appologize profusely but the man wasn't having it and just walked away. My dad was standing over to the side and had seen the whole thing and was cracking up!

The first time I rode Dinosaur I must have been really into the story because at that final spot (right before they take your picture) that dinosaur came down and I screamed! I do not mean I "roller coaster" screamed. I mean it was a blood curdling scream accompanied by an arms over my head duck! lol It all just became a little too real!

My funniest Disney memory was of my youngest daughter when she was about 4 or 5. We were at Disneyland and decided to take a rest and cool off in Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. I don't know what it is like now but at the time they gave us headphones and the sound was very realistic. At one point in time we experienced Lincoln getting a haircut and it sounded just like we were sitting in the chair getting our hair cut. As we were leaving the theater a CM caught the eye of my D and complimented her on her new haircut. Her eyes grew wide and she immediately reached up to try to feel where her hair was cut. My H, older D and I were laughing but my younger D didn't find it all that funny which made us laugh even harder.

I have two. The first was riding Test Track (pre conversion) during intermittent rain showers. We came through the crash test barrier into a driving downpour and went for the 60 mph ride through it. It was like having a firehose pointed at you. The second was a trip on Space Mountain. First you have to know that on any thrill ride my wife screams like crazy going down and laughs hysterically on the flats and uphills. So Space Mountain was a big batch of screams and laughs in the dark. We were in the first two seats, and four teenage girls behind us. Well by the time we got to the end of the ride they were laughing hysterically at my wife. It's always nice to make someone elses day. This one may not be funny but it is cool. Going on Rockin' Roller Coaster with a family member who was 91 at the time. At the end he said, "That was really great." RIP Pierce.

He did rockin at 91?! Man, I have a new idol! RIP Pierce, I indeed!

In April, we had a rather chilly morning and the wait for Splash Mountain was short. So, I decided to ride it solo. Get in my log, and there's a kind old Asian couple in front of me. They don't speak English, and they both had First Visit pins on.

Well, the Asian lady had a HOOT! She was giggling and screaming at every drop, and on the final drop, she was laughing hysterically. The ride photo was just as funny. She has both her arms high in the air with a huge smile (covering up my face completely.)

It was absolutely hilarious.

Well I wouldn't have called it funny then, but on our anniversary trip last week dh and I had an adventure on BTMR! It had been raining slightly so I told him I wanted to reschedule our FP and he's like no it's stopped so it will be okay! Ha!!! A massive pour down proceeds to start somewhere around the time we take off! OMG! I am screaming at him that I cannot see, makeup is burning my eyes, and my contact lenses are getting washed out!!! It was insane! Sunshades helped ZERO!!! I suppose this is what standing in a monsoon would be like!! He laughs the entire time.....enough said ...lol...I guess....when we pull up to get out and see the guests waiting to board, their mouths fall open!!!!

ToT the last trip in May, the guy next to me screamed his head off the entire time, I have the attraction photo and he is priceless in it, I don't think it's right to post it as much as I'd love to.

DD9 was playing Sorcerers in FL, and one video showed in a gift shop window. A little girl (about 2 or 3 yo) was walking into the shop with her dad, and paused to see the video. Maleficent appeared, and she screamed and ran into the shop to her dad. Then she came out to peek at the video, saw Maleficent, screamed again and ran back inside.

DD was 5 when she rode ToT for the first time, and she was the shortest kid in her class.

We were in the queue behind four college basketball players, one of whom wasn't too keen to go on the ride. His buddies were needling him for being chicken.

Got our seat assignments, and we ended up on the front row, with the four guys behind us. Everything was OK until the drop. DD was enjoying the thrill ("this is great!"), but the one guy was not.

Exiting the ride, he was a little wobbly, and his friends were still laughing at him.

I whispered in DD's ear, and she went over to them, looked up at this guy (who towered over her), and she said:

"Do you have to go potty?"

His friends lost it.

My mother and I had just arrived at Disney and headed over to DHS. Our first ride was ToT and we were waiting in line in front of a big group of high school-aged boys and they were all talking about wanting to take their shirts off for the photo. Of course we end up in the same elevator. So the ride starts, the lights go off, and a few seconds later we stop. The ride starts again, and then stops. We hear a voice over the intercom, "All hotel guests must keep their clothes on! Thank you!" That became our joke for the rest of the trip.

Also, I was a huge chicken as a little kid. My limit was BTMRR but I wouldn't even go near HM. We were at Disney when I was about 7 and I was adamant that I was going on HM with my mother. My father didn't want to ride so he was going to wait outside. We're just about to get in line, I hear the howling noises and that was it - I bolted back to my father.

We also have a great picture from a different trip of everyone (my parents, me, my aunt, cousins and grandparents) on IASW and my cousin, who was 7 at the time, has a death grip on the seat in front of her and a look of sheer terror on her face!

And after last summer I am NEVER riding in the front seat on Splash EVER again! I got SOAKED. It was mid-August and four hours later I was standing in the bathrooms in Fantasyland drying my shorts in the hand dryer (I had a bathing suit on underneath and my shirt had dried already). My two friends came out of the stalls and started laughing hysterically because one hadn't gotten that wet and the one I had sat on the ride with had dried off much earlier! I still love Splash, but I refuse to sit up front again!

One time, my friend on I were on Expedition Everest and there was a LARGE group of girls in front of us. They were SO excited to go on the "nice, calm, relaxing train ride." I don't know what made them think it was just a train ride in the mountains. Anyways, they were enjoying the ride at the beginning where it's kind of relaxing. Then when we went up the big lift to the mountain, you could tell they were starting to get nervous. When we reached the broken tracks, that's where the fun started to begin. THEY. WERE. SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER!!!! They just got even louder when we went backwards!!! And they were like that for the rest of the ride!!!! When we were about to go back in the mountain where the yeti is, one girl yelled "IS IT OVER?!?!? IS IT OVER?!?!?!?!" Then when they saw the yeti, that was the loudest scream of all....... Me and my friend were cracking and laughing so hard the entire ride! It was definitely the funniest ride memory for me!

When BTMRR fhad only been out a few years, my Dad convinced my EXTREMELY coaster-phobic Mom (she saw a kid get horribly injured and nearly die right in front of her as a child when he was thrown from a poorly-maintained coaster at a sketchy county fair) that it was just a slow, scenic train ride, and tricked her into going on with him. The joke was on him when she hyperventilated and passed out on his shoulder after they went down the first drop. He couldn't get her to wake up until the ride ended.

Funny moment for us was a few years back we were seeing It's Tough To Be A Bug. As we were getting out we were following behind a mom and a little boy about 3 or 4. He kept picking at his butt. Finally the mom said what are you doing. He said mom I think there are bugs in my butt. My family and I couldn't help but laugh.

Had my Mouse Ears though our entire trip! Managed to hang onto them on Space Mt. and all the other rides (pre HS days, I was about 13 last time I was there). Went on IASW and was looking up to the restaurant windows at the beginning (I think, again this was a LONG time ago) to wave to my Aunt who was looking down on us and....

SPLASH into the Small World water and under it's tracks! lol
