We were at the pool at YC and a family was fighting about what to do next. The dad got real mad and said "I don't care what we do, let's just go make some F#$*&! memories". :rotfl2:

I sometimes mutter something like this several times during the trip but usually to myself!

his mom really didn't want to go, but being a good sport she went on. DH says that his mom chanted through the whole ride--Walt Disney wouldn't hurt me, Walt Disney wouldn't hurt me. To this day, I can't ride SM without saying this.

Let me preface this by saying I HATE ROLLERCOASTERS and always have. Anyway when I went in January I had promised my 8 y/o GD I would ride whatever she and her dad did. We rode BTMR several times, as it immediately became her favorite ride. I decided it wasn't that bad. Thankfully she never asked to ride SM and also missed the one at MGM. I went back solo in May and decided I was going to get over my fears once and for all. I decided to start small and build up. I rode BTMR a couple times and did fine. I then made my way over to SM. I wanted in the middle, but unfortunately wound up in the front seat with some 5-6th graders behind me. I asked if one of them wanted to ride in the front, but was turned down. Right after we took off I knew this wasn't a good idea and started thinking "it's just 2 minutes, it's just 2 minutes'. Unfortunately it didn't help that the kid behind me was yelling 'I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die' continuously and the kid behind him was yelling 'I can see my hometown, I can see my hometown, and we're all gonna die'. Needless to say I never made to the rollercoaster at MGM. Oh well, maybe when I go back in Sept.

I overheard a conversation between a little boy and his dad while we were waiting in line for Splash Mountain.. The boy asks "Dad, how come the trees and grass looks so green here in DW?".. Dad replies with "Well son, each night after the park closes, they replace all the trees and grass".. Then the son comes back with "Well Dad, you should have them come by our house and replace the dead trees and grass".. :rotfl2:

This is going to be my new mantra about our 3rd day in with DH going into commando overdrive! :teeth:

1998 - My new Bride and I are IASW. She HATES it. I say "It's a classic dear, go with the flow". She says " I'd rather go at them with a bat".

We go back in November with our 2 kids. "Do we have to go on IASW?" my wife asks. I said "Don't worry, Sophia (our Daughter) will only want to ride it 5 or 6 times" :rotfl2:

This was something I saw not heard but funny in a way - We were at Epcot sitting on a bench just outside Norway waiting for our PSLunch. On a bench a few yards from us was a Mom and little girl about 4> Mom was reading a map or something as daughter was playing, climbing on the black iron fence surrounding lake well Mon was not paying attention to girl, girl reaches through fence up to he shoulders and is throwing , grass crumbs at the ducks- long story short girl tries to get back out but her head is STUCK! She starts screaming- Mom is trying to push her head back through as a crowd begins to gather- a Cm is also there calling for help on radio, this goes on for a couple of minutes until Mom reallizes the child's body is small enough to fit through the bars, so she pushed her all the way through and lifts her over the fence to cheers. Like I said it is kind of funny in a way if it is not you!

I'm thinking it might be me this weekend saying "Are we sure we wanted to come to WDW on the 4th of July! :rotfl2:

I have a story to add. I didn't overhear this because... I was one of the people involved.

I was in Fantasyland with a friend of mine. He and I have known each other for many years, and we have the exact same offbeat sense of humor.

A man standing next to us called out to his wife, who happened to be named Dominique. A half second later, without exchanging so much as a glance, my friend and I (in unison) both burst into the song by the Singing Nun "Domi-neeka-neeka-neeka-neeka-neeka-neeka-nee..." (My apologies for the younger participants on this board who have no idea what song I'm referring to.)

If just one of us had started to sing the song, the man might have been amused or annoyed, depending on his sense of humor. However, he looked horrified, and I tihnk it was because we both immediately started singing it together. He must have thought we had been stalking him all day just waiting for the opportunity to start singing that.

Sorry that happened to you but it is funny! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I have been laughing so hard my cheeks hurt!!

Thanks for all the great stories....one of my own told to me by my mother.

Back when I was 4 or so (about 30 years ago)we went to Disneyland and my dad had me on his shoulders as we are waiting for the parade to start...I told my dad I had to go potty and seems he didn't want to wade through the crowds he told me to hold it until the parade was over. As we are getting on the next ride (no potty break  ) I peed all over him.....my mom said "you told her to wait until the parade was over and she did!!"

Never underestimate a kids ability to take you literally!!!

Actually, in Future World at Epcot they play a recording of a bird in distress to warn away other birds. They were having problems with the birds trying to nest on and around the buildings and it was causing some problems.

Most people don't even know its playing unless they really listen for it. I always wondered why they didn't do this in the other parks as well.

I understand the need to do something but as a lover of birds, I find this disturbing. This is one fact I wish I didn't know about. Kind of like if someone said they played the sound of a dog in distress to keep away stray dogs. The image of what is happening to get that recording is not a nice one. :sad2:

My guess is that the recording was 100% computer (electronic) generated. Hope that makes you feel better. :flower:

Myst

:3dglasses I bird watch from my backyard...

If you stood outside long enough with a tape recorder, noises like that occur daily ...

As the LP said, I doubt if Disney would intentionally put an animal in distress to record it :confused3

Now! On with the show.....

Whose got more Disney anicdotes!?!?!

All my anicdotes are in photo format :rotfl2:

Check my favorite photo album from our December trip :3dglasses

We had four teenagers and two grown "boys" on that trip...it was quite a Journey........ :3dglasses

Edited with my apologies. I honestly thought 'old one' was just kidding.

Nothing to get upset about. Real animals are not being harmed in order to generate those 'distress calls'. And playing those calls does not cause any harm to the birds at Epcot, but merely discourages numbers of them from taking up permanent residence.

a guy lifted his stroller onto the bus. it was hot and he was sweating. under his breath he said, "I need a vacation"

Great thread!

We made our first trip in May(me, DW, DS10, DD's7,4,1). This might be one you had to be there for, but at AK, DW and DD7 were getting ready to go on Dinosaur while the rest of us waited. DS10 said "if mom thinks it's scary, I might go on it, but if Allison(his 7 year old sister) think's it's scary, I'm definitely NOT going on it."

It was funny because it's not every day you see a 10 year old boy freely admit that his little sister is far braver than he is.
