Funeral Leave

We do have to use sick, vacation or personal time for funeral leave. However I'm certainly not going to complain because the office I work for is VERY generous with their paid leave allowances! :thumbsup2

It is the same at my office. :thumbsup2 I'm not complaining either, my boss is very generous with the amount of vacation time we get!

My company's policy is "talk to your manager, work it out". Depending on the circumstances and the distance, you can take what you need. When my mom was dying I took one week to be with her in the hospital, one week for funeral, etc. There was no way I would have been able to work. In fact, I kept calling my boss every day to let him know I wouldn't be in (this during the time my mom was in the hospital) and he was like, "Why do you keep calling me? I don't want work to even cross your mind until things are settled. Focus on your family, much more important than anything happening here".

My managers have lots of other issues, but when it comes to family and work/life balance they are awesome.

We give our employees 3 days for immediate family (husband, wife, child, father, mother, brother, sister, grandparents). Any more must be taken from vacation.
