What things does you school do? My sons wrestling team wants to do a fundraiser. I have done them for years but this year I want to do something different. We have only ever sold things. This year I am looking for ideas on a marathon or something where the kids do something for the money. Then when they bring in so much money the kids get a team shirt or a hoodie jacket. Any ideas. Swim team swims laps, track team runs, what can we do. We have 18 inches of snow. Thanks

I am not sure how very this idea will transfer. And you will need the school on your side but.............

My girls go to a school that wears uniforms. For different charities, they have done a day a month where you can buy a dress down ticket for a set date. I can't remember but I don't thinkit would be too much to ask for at least $5 for a high school student.

If they don't wear uniforms, maybe you could do a PJ's day?

I was in charge of fundraising at my son's preschool last year. We did:
walk-a-thon
Yankee candles
Flower bulbs

Then the most fun, we rented a local movie theater for $60 plus $4 per person to see a movie and we charged ourselves and our friends/family (whoever we could sell tickets to) $8. We made around $400 -which isn't a ton, but.........there were only 25 kids in the whole school and it was tons of fun! The movie theater near us supplies drinks and popcorn for that group rate.

Other ideas i looked into:
discount cards
cookbooks
t-shirts
towels
healthfoods
butterbraids
tupperware

Thanks for the help. Still not sure what we will do, We are having a tournament this year wich will bring in like $5000, so Maybe we should do something that day and call it good. Mum

Believe it or not, bake sales can make quite a bit of extra money. At the tournatment just sell different foods. Bottles of water, other drinks, baked goods, make grinders, maybe someone has access to a cotton candy machine or popcorn machine and you could sell that.

Can you do a themed lunch? say mexican or italian. I am a Social worker and at my last job, I was responsible for fundraising. I did a craft show and one group bought a table and did an italian lunch (lasagna, green salad, garlic bread, soda). Out of 45 tables they made the most money. I should have charged them a % of their take vs 35 bucks for the table. They made over 3 grand and sold out in less than 2 hours. There food costs were several hundred dollars but they really made alot of money and had fun doing it.

Hi,
I am the Director of Events and Marketing for a nightclub in Manhattan. So maybe I could help out?

You say you have 18 inches of snow. Is it at all possible to have a snowman building contest? And then charge for tickets to go see the show. You could easily do this on school grounds, and have kids sign up in groups of 4 or more. They could bring anything they wanted to decorate the snowman with- the more creative, the better.
Then the people who buy tickets get to vote on which they like the best. You could have all different categories (most colorful, happiest, funniest...etc.).

Just a thought.

Gee. I sure would like to enter THAT contest!

DD's band recently did a "spare a buck" fundraiser. Literally just a list asking for donations of a dollar. DD raised almost $200 (most people gave more than a dollar), have them set a minimum to collect and offer a pizza party or other treat for everyone that makes the minimum.

Our school does alot with local businesses. We have a night at places like Chuck e. cheese, so alot of the kids from school turn out and the school gets a percentage of the till. You might find a more age appropriate place, like McDonalds or something.

You did not say how old the kids are so that might change my answer. I personally hate the sales and am not a big fan of walk-a-thon or any a-thon's. I would like to see more active fundraiser in which the kids are tought to do something of value to earn the money. I like to see and will support car washes, shoveling snow (18 inches????), cleaning leaves, things like that. I like pancake breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, etc, or even bake sales if the kids make the stuff. if they want to do some sort of "a-thon" how about they take pledges for hours donated to charity. I would love to sponsor a kid $5 a hr for each hour that they visit a nursing home, work at a soup kitchen or something like that. To me this is much better than my giving them $5 a hr to walk in a circle around a track. Other than health/exercise to the person what value does this bring to society? Use this to teach them some valuable lessons.

O.K. sorry off my soap box now.:flower3:
