Fun things to do near Cedar Point?

OH! Oh! Do not miss this place! We just loved it. We have been there twice. My advice would be to go early in the day, near opening time so that the animals are HUNGRY! HeeHeeHee!

Am I the only person that replies to her own posts?

Anyhow, we did not have to pay to get in because our zoo pass had a reciprocal agreement.

With older kids definitely do Kalahari over GWL. My kids were 10 & 8 when we went to GWL and the girls were bored there. We have gone to Kalahari since then and they enjoyed that much better. There was a lot more to do and just a nicer indoor park.

(don't suppose there are any Pat Dailey fans on the Dis?)...

...Put-in-Bay is a lot of fun...also got a good night life for those not traveling with kids. I'd recommend it to just about anyone.

Absolutely!

We love Put-in-Bay!

We have spent many an evening in the Roundhouse!

Discovered my favorite beer there too- Great Lakes Brewing Dortmunder! Gotta love the Edmund Fitzgerald beer too!

As for local restaurants, I would strongly recommend Phil's Inn in Port Clinton.

I will just second this place for great 'ghetti!

Another great spot in Port Clinton is the Jolly Roger for outstanding fried perch or walleye, which are two types of fish caught in Lake Erie. This place is on the same road as Phil's but the other side of the street.

Nobody should be surprised to find great walleye in a town that on New Years Eve drops a walleye instead of the traditional NYE ball!:rotfl:

I would try a mom and pop Italian place in Huron which is about 10-15 east of Cedar Point called Macaroni's. No it is not the chain place it is a true mom and pop place. Reasonable prices and good food.
Try the other water parks. The Kalahari has a day pass you can get but go early they only sell a limited number of day passes.
Danny Boy pizza south on 250 not far from Kalahari has good food.
Take a boat ride to the islands and rent a golf cart - sorry no car traffic on the island- it is a fun way to see the sights. Pan for gold, tour a cave- very good idea on a hot day as the cave is much cooler. So a large geo stone. Sample so wine. Listen to the local band.

I haven't been to CP in years, and you guys are making me want to go back :)

Awesome. :thumbsup2

You get all kinds here on the Dis. Unfortunately, the last time I went to the Bay, I was underage, so I actually haven't been able to sample the fare. However, my parents had a bunch of rowdy friends who loved the Roundhouse. Ooh...and the world's longest bar!

Thanks to those that gave suggestions regarding GWL and Kalahari. I was leaning toward Kalahari, and will definitely go with that now. Thanks again!

Only one day at Cedar Point? Wow! If you're a coaster lover you might want to invest in a second day. Yeas I know tickets are pricey, but it's well worth it because of the lines. Hope this helps. HAVE FUN!
::yes:: ITA!
