I just can't pick a first night TS restaurant! I want a fun, fun, FUN place, but not character dining... Thoughts? Ideas? Please??

FYI - We're a group that includes a soon-to-be four year old. ;)

Whispering Canyon Cafe or Ohanas?
Hoop de Doo Revue?

We like Ohanas for our 1st night of fun! Love the atmosphere! If you were to go to the parks that night, I would suggest Biergarten at Epcot's Germany as well.

I second Whispering Canyon Cafe......it's the most fun that I have ever had at a Disney restaurant.

Sci-fi, Whispering Canyon, T-Rex, Rainforest (if you don't have one near you)...all great fun and/or theme.

it's hard to not suggest a character meal, because I think that those are the most fun! Especially on a first night!:)

We already have a reservation for Whispering Canyon - yay!!

My son's birthday is the following day, and he "has Mickey cooking for him" (Chef Mickey's, that is...). I don't want to lessen that experience with a character meal, you know?

I think it's coming down to Biergarten or 'Ohana... I guess that would then depend on whether we want to go to MK or Epcot after, eh?

I second the hoop-dee-doo (although if you are on the dining plan, it is two credits). It just love it. Also Tony's Town Sq might be fun.

Whispering Canyon was so fun! of course i was the shyest of my family and the waiter picked on me. But while we were in there they did the hokey pokey and everyone seemed to be having a good time

Teppan Edo can be a fun show to watch or 'Ohana if you want to stay out of the parks.

Be warned that WCC has changed quite a bit. The food was worse than mediocre last visit and the antics were really dumbed down.

ANother vote for Ohana. We loved the whole Hawaiian feel. Our girls (9 and 2) had a blast with the coconut races, limbo, and the whole family did the hula. If you could have only seen my BIG DH doing the hula dance. GREAT TIME!

I have heard the Whispering Canyon Cafe is a blast and the the food is very yummy!

this is a great thread! I am looking for the same! We can go out to eat anywhere at home..I want fun, different, and special! So far I have O'hana's, WCC, Tepon Edo, 1900 Park fare, Beirgarten, and Chef Mickey's on my wish list! Just trying to narrow down my DS10th B'day! Gonna be at HS that day for Star Wars (his choice) but dinner is still up in the air!

MY suggestions would be:

Whispering Canyon
50's Prime Time
T-Rex
'Ohana
