Fun question: How early do you start packing?

I'm leaving in November and I already have a list going. I also have a bin oh stuff I bought specifically for the trip! I'll pack the day before and will be putting complete outfits in gallon bags labeled with persons name and day number. I'm so excited!

I am on my phone and my post to Susie63 got embedded in her quote. Sorry about that! Anyways, thanks for sharing your binder - love it!

We are leaving July 25th and I already have some stuff packed...like our homemade shirts and the kids pixie dust stuff

IF I am going somewhere warm when it is cold here in Montana (read: most of the time), I start making lists, sorting clothes, buying extra toiletries, and packing WAY earlier than I need to. I am kind of a compulsive outfit-matcher, make-a-list and check-it-twice, sort of packer. :rolleyes1

This time around, however, I haven't gotten quite as psycho about it just yet. I think it is because we will be wearing the season's clothes when we are packing.

I am about ready to get my DD10's spring/summer things out of storage from last fall and see what she can wear and do the closet switch-over. I may start getting her things ready to pack at that point. :thumbsup2

It seems like there are two categories of early packers
A) those who pack early because they are obsessive packers and
B) those who pack early because they're just too excited to wait.

I'm definitely category B! I can't wait to go, the wait is torture, so I pack stuff early because I'm so excited! I do have a checklist from previous trips that I just reprint and check off from!

I think there should be a C Catagory for those of us who are extremely over organized. For me I'll accumulate stuff for the trip up to 6 months in advance, such as OTC drugs, ear planes, etc. Then about 1 month before a trip I'll compile the stuff into suitcases to a point where I'm 90% packed. Then it's a matter of some last minute washing for a couple of things the day before, and I'm good to go. I always buy all new OTC drugs for the trip, that way if we don't use them, we can use them to restock the house's supply afterwards. I may be a light packer, but the OTC drugs I always bring lot's of, as you never know if someone will get sick on a trip. For all the bugging DH has given me for doing this, it's really helped out on a couple of trips.

This is so me! I have medication for every possible scenario. Thank goodness. DH ended up with a gastrointestinal problem on our last trip and I had Imodium packed.::yes::
