Fun Disney newspaper article

Great article!! I've gotten to the point I try to keep it a secret when we go to WDW just to avoid "the look" and the "is that the only place you ever go?" remarks. I just feel sorry for them!

 I just want to say hello to fellow Omahans! I'm enjoying the snow day today. Hope you are all safe, sound, and warm today.

Has anyone ever met someone who DIDN'T like Disney World after they vacationed there???

My best friend LOVES Disney stuff--movies, housewares, clothes, etc. She always bought her husband figurines and all kinds of stuff. Last year they went to WDW for a few days during a surprise anniversary trip. She came back and said "well, it was OK, but I'd rather go to 6 Flags!!!" Talk about BLASPHEMY! I almost croaked! It would be different if she wasn't "into" Disney merchandise, but she is. Her one son's room is pained in Mickey and the other's is in 101 Dalmations. I just don't GET IT!! (or maybe SHE doesn't get it!!):sunny: I pity her!!!

Rainbow,

As a childless woman, I've used that "I'm going to Florida" line on several people before. :D It is so much easier than trying to explain Disney World to them.:earsgirl:

After reading her article, I recently tried out the "I'm going to Florida" line this time instead of WDW. Well, the person I said it to said "OH MY GOSH! YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY AGAIN?!?!?" Oh well  I guess everybody knows that if I traveled to FL, it will always be to WDW. ;)

I think my family and I (well, DW and I anyway) have reached that point of being kind of embarassed about going to WDW. But it truly is the one place where we have the most fun -us and the two kids, too! I am surrounded by people who don't "get it". Frankly I don't care if anyone else gets it (I'm no missionary for Disney) but I often wish people would leave us alone. Others spend their money going skiing or to the beach; we spend ours at Disney. What's the difference?

[stepping off soapbox now]

We know people who went to WDW and hated it.:( We even helped them plan, loaned them books, etc. They decided to just "wing it" in June:eek: and came home complaining about the crowds and how they couldn't do anything because it was so hot, blah, blah, blah. We tried to tell them you can't go during a time when crowds are expected without a PLAN!!!!! Well, three years later we've met a couple who have girls both close to our girls ages and they all get along really well and they decided to go to Disney over Thanksgiving...once again we helped them plan, gave them tips, etc...they had a blast and we are now going on a cruise (Disney, of course) in May with 2 days in the "world" after and have planned a two week trip in 2005!!:teeth: They are now self-proclaimed Disney freaks just like us! I finally have someone I can talk Disney with without ever getting "the look":chat: !!

I married one. DH thinks WDW is okay for a once every 5 year trip but that is it. DS, 15, never liked WDW after the age of 8. He thinks it's lame. He would rather go to school then go to WDW! That is why I don't take them anymore. I take my mom who is another Disney fanatic and my 4 y/o dd instead. They understand because they get the magic of the place. DD has been to WDW 6 times so far and is only 4. Next male-free trip in 125 days!!:)

WOW! It's so good to hear I'm not the only person who has heard those horrid words -"you're going to Disney World AGAIN! don't you ever go anywhere else, you know there's a whole world out there!" Yes, I know there is and I've seen a lot of it, I prefer to go to WDW to relax! I, too have started saying I'm going to Florida, and it works for most people, since I have family who live there. But a couple of weeks ago I received a phone call at work from our private events planner about the family reunion trip in 2005. The woman in the office next to mine answered it and I found myself embarrassed as I explained that yes, I am taking another trip to WDW, but this time I'm planning one for my entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins, everyone. She's been to DL, about 15 or 20 years ago, and she's a Mickey fan, but she doesn't realize there's a WORLD of difference between DL 20 yrs ago and WDW now.

Lori, I love Mickey and I'm a WDW addict.

I missed the article.. Did someone keep a copy of it so I could read it..

Thanks
Linda
