Fun Disney Facts thread

Fail XD. I forgot the "E" sorry xD.

(I don't know if this is true...)
Disney's Hollywood Studios build the Sorcerer Hat to hide The Great Movie Ride because of copyright against MGM.

That's the story I heard too. The Chinese Theatre was supposed to be the landmark for the park.

Before the hat and Sunset Blvd. (I think it was Sunset Blvd. Correct me if I'm wrong) were built, the park made a giant hidden Mickey when viewed from above.

I think I saw pictures of that. I was curious of why they would make a giant hidden mickey...

Oswald The Lucky Rabbit was Walt Disney's first cartoon star, but Universal stole Oswald and did cartoons of him.

Maybe to taunt people with the legend of "The world's largest hidden Mickey!" and laugh as people spent hours trying to find it?

at disneyland, to get into the apartment above the firehouse there is a green staircase behind the building.

also, if youve ever been to disney, you may have noticed how they only sell coca-cola products. Coca-cola made a deal with disney: they will give disney their produts for free if they dont sell any of their competitors products.

so its a wonder y they charge so much for a friggin coke.
i guess its cuz disney is sucking ur money from u.

wow, i wish there was someone like walt to run disney again. walt had it down. he didnt care about the $$$, he cared about making it the best place evr for families. Not anymore :/

In 101 Dalmatians, during the Twilight Barking scene, there are cameos from Lady and the Tramp. Jock, Peg and Bull, Tramp, and Lady all appear.

I have a whole book of this sort of thing, I'll have to bring it downstairs and put some stuff from it into this thread :goodvibes

One I do remember is that when DL was being designed, nobody thought it was going to be a success. Somebody warned Walt not to put any of his most famous characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, etc.) into the promotional materials or he'd lose all his credibility as an entertainer. So he decided to use Jiminy Cricket and Tinker Bell as his mascots and that's how they became such major characters ^_^

Nope, he doesn't have a name. Though fans like to refer to him as Ferdinand.

The Beast has no name either. Fans refer to him as Prince Adam.

The scene of Belle and "Adam" dancing in the end is a copy of when Aurora and Philip dance at the end of Sleeping Beauty.

The Beast's name is Adam. They refer to him as that in a special feature on the Beauty and the Beast DVD.

Before Mickey's Toontown Fair, there was Mickey's Birthdayland, then it was Mickey's Starland because of how popular Mickey's Birthdayland became, and after that it was remolded and Mickey's Toontown Fair was made.

Miley Cyrus wasn' Disney's first choice to play Hannah. They originally wanted pop sensation Joanna "JoJo" Levesque to play the role of Chloe Stewart.

-The Epcot monorail station was built backwards.

-The Japan pavilion was going to have a ride in it. It was going to be called Fuji something (can't remember the name), but Kodak was the sponsor and didn't want the name of the ride to be "Fuji" since it's the name of another brand of camera.

-The only country named on It's a Small World is Mexico. It's written on a hat on the ride.

I've got a million more facts. Might post more later. :)

The queen in snow white has no name either...

she is always referred to as The Queen.

Country Bear Jamboree was once an attraction at Disneyland with two different versions; The Country Bear Christmas Special and Vacation Hoedown. But because of low crowd attendance, they closed the attraction to make room for Winnie The Pooh.

Bear Country was then named Critter Country

Spaceship Earth at Epcot is the tallest attraction at Walt Disney World Resort. The giant Sorcerer Mickey hand and wand make the attraction approximately 240 feet at its highest point. It tops The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror at the Disney-MGM Studios (199 feet), the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle (185 feet) and The Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom (145 feet).

:cool1:

you do a flip when going backwords on expidition everst
:thumbsup2

Expedition everest is the tallest attraction as if it was higher by like another foot they would have had to put a light at the tallest part so that helicopters knew about it ;)

When Disney World was originally being built, Disney had no plans of making another version of Disneyland's Pirates of the Carribean attraction, because of this area's familiarity with pirates. They were planning on making another attraction called the Western River Expedition in its place. This didn't happen because those who had been or heard about POTC and DL wanted the attraction at Disney World, so a version of it was brought over instead. It was supposed to be built in the area where BTMRR and Splash Mountain now stand. This area was supposed to be called Thunder Mesa.

Inside of Matterhorn mountain at Disneyland, there is a basketball court, though it is only sized for about half a court.

DINOSAUR in Animal Kingdom was originally named Countdown to Extinction and opened as that name, but changed it to connect to the movie, Dinosaur, which came out after the attraction.

Disney attractions are no higher then 199 feet. This is because if a building is 200 feet or higher, they are required to put a red blinking light on top to warn helicopters.

Walt Disney bought the land for Walt Disney World by using fake companies. One went under the pseudonym of "M. T. Lott" the name of which can be seen on one of the windows on Main Street.
