Hi All!! I am going to be in Disney in 12 days!! :woohoo:

My family and I are staying at GFV which I am super pumped for!!

One of the nights I'm there I'm going to be taking my 7 year old nephew on a "date" We have 7 pm ADR at Beaches and Cream but I'm trying to find something for us to do afterward. ( My sister and bro in law are going on a date that night as well) I was originally planning on heading over to Magic Kingdom since its open later but thought it could be a good time to explore some of the resorts on the monorail.

Does anyone know of any fun activities or things to do at any of the monorail resorts that might interest a 7 year old?

Thanks!

:dance3:

Not specific to monorail but most hotels do the roasting marshmallows and movies under the stars, there's also the electric water pageant (MK area resorts), and WL or the fort has horseback riding...

Isn't there a Pirates and pals boat cruise in the MK area from the GF?

Also, there are some games arcades.

Plus, a ladybug release, I think? forget that, OTH, it's early in the day

As lame as it sounds, my kids at 7 loved going up the levels at the CR and looking down on the people and the monorail. Also looking out from the 4th floor observation deck.

I've often wondered if the 15th floor observation deck is open, before California Grill opens. But I've never gone to find out.

Somebody mentioned Pirates and Pals. (I believe it departs from CR.) Never done it, but sounds like a lot of fun.

I think all of the monorail resorts have marinas where you can rent various kinds of boats.

One little "Disney secret" that I've shared with numerous people is on the monorails.

When you're inside the monorail, there are several hand grips inside the car, for people to grab, if they're standing.

Grab the vertical hand grip, that's next to the door. (You can grab it while sitting down, if you have a window seat.)

It's actually part of the door mechanism. When the door opens, the "hand grip" will raise about a half inch, and then rotate like 180 degrees. (Obviously, you have to be hanging on to the one that's on the side where the doors open.)

Yes. I was thinking free things, but this is by far one of the best things to do - especially with a 7 year old. The water mice are relatively cheap and fun. My kids liked seeing everything from this vantage point - and you get to go under the monorail line.

Since you are going over to BC for Beaches And Cream, which by the way is the best tasting ice cream in WDW (IMO), across the street from the Swan Hotel, which is right next to the YC/BC (walking distance) is Fantasia Gardens miniature golf course. It is a lot of fun. I know you asked specifically about monorail area, but I give you this idea based on your plans.

This isn't on the monorail, but you are going to be at beaches and Cream, so maybe an Epcot resort activity would work......

at BWI walk along the boardwalk...often there is free entertainment to watch - buskers - juggling, magic acts etc. It can be entertaining.

Costs money, but renting surrey bikes can be fun to ride around for a while.

Could take a walk or boat ride to DHS to take a bus back to the MK area.

You can watch the EWP from either of the MK resort. Again, you can take a boat to any of the MK resorts or do a monorail circuit and get off at each resort to 'check it out'.

A PP mentioned the movies at the different resorts.

If you're interested, the AKL (again not MK area) has night viewing of the animals and other great kids activities worth checking into, perhaps.

The Boardwalk has street performers. I believe they start at 7pm. There's also movies under the stars at the resorts and I think that starts at 8pm. You could always watch the movie at the BCV or BWV.

Not at a monorail resort, but you could take the boat to the Wilderness Lodge and ask at the front desk for the Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt.

Boardwalk is lots of fun if you hit the right time. - Many street shows
Fort Wilderness has a campfire with Chip and Dale. It is free but you can buy stuff to make Smore's.
AKL has night vision glasses.
Enjoy your date :thumbsup2

Before you head over to B&c the Poly has free luau lessons in the late afternoon!
