Which do you recommend for an anniversary dinner--Fultons or Capn Jacks? My DH loves King Crab Claws. It doesn't have to be ultra-romantic, just a good meal. :wave2:

Boy, both are real stinkers. Fulton's gets some good notices, but the prices are too outrageous - the service too uneven - to recommend having a meal there. You might luck out and eat some good grub, but better seafood is available at Narcoosee's.

As for Capt Jack's...well, it gets my vote for worst restaurant in WDW. We had a meal here last month. After an hour wait (not a problem; it was a Saturday night, so we killed some time walking and drinking), we were seated and treated to the most grotesque dinner I've eaten in a long time. The seafood scampi was literally inedible: an unidentified orange goop poured over cold pasta. The service, however, was excellent. Our server was so cool that she acknowledged, "If I were you, I'd stick to drinks and appetizers tonight...."

I'm disappointed DTD has no decent sit-down restaurants.

I'm with sotolaf regarding the two restaurants--I wouldn't eat at either one. However--I do think Portobello Yacht Club is a good DD restaurant--. But don't think you will find crab claws there.

As for Crab Claws--never eat them myself, but I'll bet there are spots other than Fultons or Capt. Jacks that serve them--

Never been to Capt Jack's so I can't speak about that. We did however eat at Fulton's for the first time this past December... it was AWESOME!!!! My mom said it was the best steak she's ever had (and she's had a lot :teeth: ). Sister said the same thing (although she hasn't had that many). DH had the crab claws and said they were incredible. The list goes on and on. DH wants to go twice next trip.

Hmmm... I guess we just caught them on a really, really good day :p

I agree with the other posters neither location is that great and Fulton's is entirely too expensive. Lunch is not bad at Capt jacks though.

I would suggest Narcoossees, Olivias or Flying Fish, though none have the crabs on the menu you could call the chef and they would probably be able to arrange it for you.

Grumpy 92 is correct: lunch at Capt Jack's will be an improvement, and will certainly be a less busy time.

Uncleromulus, you're right about the Portobella Yacht Club; but since the poster asked about DTD restaurants I didn't consider the Pleasure Island options. If I had to eat a sit-down lunch or dinner at DTD or PI, I'd choose the Portobella Yacht Club or Wolfgang Puck's.

As for seafood, you're better off skipping it altogether at DTD/PI. Flying Fish or Narcoosee's offer the best seafood on property.

I know that different people have had different experiences at Fulton's. HOWEVER, DH and I have eaten at Fulton's 3 times in the last 18 months and have had a great experience each time. I've ordered the king crab claws all three times and they're the most wonderful things I've ever eaten - they're as big as my fist!

Cause if you're not married to that, I agree that Flying Fish is a good choice. I hear that Narcoosee's is great, and I've also heard that the new Todd English's Bluezoo at the Swan (or Dolphin????) is some of the greatest freshest seafood on property. allearsnet.com has menus and photos.

Good luck and happy anniversary!princess:

We had one positive experience at Fultons, so we returned again........and then wished we didn't. Being faithful, we tried again the next year, thinking we may have caught them on an "off" night. Well, it was terrible and we have vowed to never return. They have a get em' in and get em' out dining philospohy, which is reflected in their service, and the food was really just not good.
I agree that the Flying Fish would be the best choice for seafood....In my opinion, Fultons is not even comparable to FF ......Kind of like comparing Disneyworld to a local carnival.

Manga~:D

We ate at Fultons at Christmas and the food was amazing.

My chap had the crab claws and he said they were best he'd had.

Service was top notch too.

Can't coment of Capt'Jacks but will say we just got back from Disney and 9 of us had dinner at Fulton's this time. This was one of the best servers we have ever had. We had a wonderful meal, and yes it is very expensive. Our last 2 visits before the service was just ok but this time they restored our faith in them. This is visit #9 for me and I have yet to have a bad meal.

Doesn't DTD include Market Place, PI, and West Side?

We love Fultons. Agree it's overpriced, but get the Levy's preferred card and will save some cash. The food is excellent and the ambience is great.

I would also nominate Capn Jacks as the worst in the World. Bad food, horribly dark restaurant, bad service.

Shady, what is a Levy's prefered card. Would like to check that out since I never go to Disney without eating at Fulton's.

defend my adored Cap'n Jack! Granted, we go there more for nostalgia than anything else, but we have always thought the apps were good. Peel and eat shrimp and all you can eat crab legs always satisfy us, when washed down with some frosty drinks! Plus, we love sitting in the window room, watching the water and the boats.

But I agree, grand cuisine it isn't...I post another vote for Flying Fish! Yum!

I love Fultons so much, we are going there after we get married in May! The best king crab legs ever! Yum!
