We are slowly working towards being full time RV'ers. We will hang on to our home here in Eastern Oregon for a while. Husband has a few more years until he can retire and pay scale here can't be compared. We have traveled since I met him. He had 1978 Century 5th wheel back then. We used it as partial down payment on our first home once we started having babies. We had a Winnebago MH, then a 26ft pull type he used for travel jobs. We saved and put a nice down on our dream trailer last year after our son graduated from high school. We now have a 38ft Mobile Suites. We plan on a few road trips between jobs and want to explore the area near WDW. We are considering many angles . Most likely snowbird a bit since his work as a pipeline journeyman slows in the winter months. Can't wait to bring my mini mansion( as my friends named it) down Florida way!

Anyone else want to share their RV stories? I love RV'ing. I find it so fun and friendly! Often in an RV park the kindness and familiarity is more sincere than an actual permanent neighborhood!

Sadly we will put it in storage this week. We had hoped to try snowbirding this Jan , as we both turn 50 () but our DD got married and that set us back some of our savings. I haven't canceled our FW ressies yet. Can't face it!

We are hoping to retire in about 5 years. We don't think fulltiming is for us, but on the Montana fifthwheel forum there are "longtimers" who go out for a month or so at a time. That sounds good to us.

Our retirement plan is to go to Key West and spend some time at BlueWater Key RV Resort. Then maybe Texas, the California coast and Pacific Northwest. Then back to Florida to spend a few months at Fort Wilderness. If possible, I'd love to get a part-time job at Disney, just to experience being a cast member. After that we'll see how much we want to continue RVing. Maybe we'll sell our "sticks & bricks" (as the full-timers say) and buy an RV pad at The Great Outdoors RV Resort in Titusville, FL. Maybe we'll sell the fifthwheel and our current house, and buy a boat and a house in Ft. Walton Beach or Destin.

The possibilities are exciting!

Well, obviously I can no longer remember how to post a photo! Sorry!

Nice RV. I hope some day to have a nice rig to travel around in. I don't want to be a "Full Timer" at RVing, because I think it's nice to have a home base, but I'd love to be able to just pick up and go for a month (or whatever) and just enjoy. Ah maybe someday.

The wife and I have talked about full timing, just selling it all and going on the road. She has another few years until she can retire, maybe then.

We have a 2016 Sanibel, and although we will not be full timers, I do envy those who are. We are the owners of a larger dairy farm in Wisconsin, and our sons are the managers, with a staff of 12 full-time employees. So we have the opportunity to travel lots. Our first visit to Disney was as newlyweds at the young age of 19, in 1972. Fast forward 43 years. Until a devestating barn fire in 1999, the opportunity to return was not in the cards for us. We were busy building a business and traveling and vacations were few and far between. Since 1999, we have traveled about 7 times to Disney, recently for three weeks, just last month, and will come again late December 2016. Other travels keep us in the Midwest, loving Door County, the UP, and also along the Mississippi. The Thompson Causeway in Illinois has become a newer destination for a peaceful quiet place, as long as the mayflies are not out! We have taken the fiver to Yellowstone and to the Smokies. Alaska is on our horizon in 2017. Love to find and research out of the way places that accommodate larger rigs. And love meeting new people, especially the Disney people on the DIS Boards. Happy and Healthy 2016.

Alaska, By RV?

Denise, yes, by RV but not ours. We will fly to Anchorage, and then rent a Class C, and spend two to three weeks touring, going into the YT, and see it all, or maybe just a portion!!! Perhaps a day trip(s) to a glacier on a boat, but not a week long cruise. We have researched, received lots of brochures from several companies, and talked to people who have rented, so now we just have to do this!!! Our fifth wheel is still being determined whether to fix or total. Long story, but had you been back home, we would have limped towards you. We ended up at the wayside by Monteagle (sp!). We bungee corded, miles of duct tape, straps, and limped home very slow, thankful for every mile closer home. Rv mobile mechanic was summoned and assisted. We were clipped by a semi truck going around us as we pulled into the wayside, tearing off our back cap, ladder, broken windows, side fiberglass, etc, and, our PRIDE. Anyhow, we are good, and we so enjoyed meeting you. Interesting folks on these boards, I might add!!

Ouch, sounds scary. I hope you come out even or ahead with the insurance.

Omg that's awful! Sounds more than a "clip"!

And here we sit, Wednesday, April 20, and still no repair done on our fifth-wheel. The dealership cashed the Insurance Check in early February, and have not done one bit of repair. Nada. We have been in communication with Am Fam, Forest River/Prime Time, and appreciate their listening, and lending advice, but Prime Time dealers are independently owned. I will not say the name, but we are one of several that have newly purchased rv's (within the last year), from this dealer, that need repairs, and they still are sitting. Pretty sure that the cattle trailer I saw on their "dock" within the last two weeks was not sold there, along with the airstream tt. Google 53510, and you can figure out the dealer. Our fifth wheel was taken there the 18th of January, for the insurance adjuster and their mobile repair. Frustrated, yes, determined, yes, camping in our (finally nice) spring weather, no. The good news is we are back at the Fort late December 2016. Blessings to all those in the heavy rains in Texas. Stay safe. Back to being the "gofer" for my corn planting husband.

I still have about 16yrs to get to retirement but full or "most" timing are our plans. I given some thought to those RV communities like in Titusville as a home base, but who knows as it's so far away. I think I'd try to find one more centrally located in the US though, to make moving around the country a bit easier w/o being as far from the base.

We're not envious at all of full timers - guess 'home turf' means too much to us. Love the option of going when we please, but after 2-3 weeks the pull of 'home' kicks in!! :D

We've loved 'camping' all our married lives, and have enjoyed all of it (except 'no' tenting), but prefer going and coming several times a year!! We've visited with some that do enjoy the 'nomadic' lifestyle, and many, like us, that prefer to keep the 'bricks & mortar' base. To each their own, for sure!! :thumbsup2

Love the "most" timing moniker! We're used to staying in our RV for months at a time for his jobs. It will be a dream dong it for pure fun!

Nice rig. We are contemplating going "Part-time" for a week or two per month and keeping our house.
I seriously have a trailer crush on it. We store it during the winter in a buddies watermelon farm warehouse and I miss it!
