One of my favorite things to do at the Fort is at Crocketts. Rocking in a chair on the front porch, sipping my beverage of choice, and watching the kids running around in the playground. It's tranquility for me and especially for later when the kids fall asleep early from all the fresh air.

Getting on the boat back to Ft Wilderness after a full day at the park is another deep breath of tranquility with lots of fresh cool evening air. Within minute of arriving at the trailer, everyone still awake is yawning and mellowed from a wonderful day of magic

Anybody else have those moments? Bet there are a lot of other experiences that give the same kind of magic.

We love to sit on the front porch and watch the tourists. :lmao:

Love the rocking chairs. Love the feeling of stepping off the boat and being 'home'. I love sitting on the bus and holding my sleeping DGS, as he clutches some treasure from the park; or watching other kids with some flashing light up toy in the dark. Love sitting at the camper in the zero gravity chair and listening to the boat horns come and go. Love to hear the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I could go on and on, but instead I think I will stop this and make a reservation for the Fort!!!!!!

To steal from Rush Limbaugh "MEGA DITTOS!" Only two more weeks!:cool1:

Me too. Nothing like stepping off the MK boat after a happy day in the park and knowing I have all this to come back to. Sure beats going back to a cramped hotel room!

I like the wildlife - walking the path to FW and seeing all the deer and armadillos early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

The coolest thing ever, though was:

I have never seen a firefly in Florida, and I've lived here since I was 17. A year and a half ago I spent a night at FW for my birthday, and my MIL and I did the wagon ride (which I love to do anytime). It was a fireworks ride, so we were sitting on the beach, and then it was the time when Tink was coming down from the castle. And all of a sudden, a firefly was in front of me! :) I thought it was too cool, like a little Tink. :)

I have heard that FW has them in the summer, but I'm on Disney property pretty often (I used to be there several nights a week to walk when I lived closer). And that was the first firefly I've seen on Disney property, or anywhere in FL!

......I have never seen a firefly in Florida,......

Same thing for me!!! We have been in FL for 17 years and I had never seen 'lightning bugs' here. One night my friend kept talking about all the fireflies in the area behind our camper. We were right behind the group camping area at the time and had a pretty large area behind us. I thought he was crazy!!! But sure enough they were there!!!

I am going to spend more time walking around (and taking a wagon ride or two) this summer, looking for the lightning bugs! It was amazing to see one. :)

Hearing the whistle of the steam train from the MK while at the CG is one of my favorite Disney sounds :mickeyjum
