Planning a trip to disney Mar 13-21, 2009. Looking at staying at Ft Wilderness and wondering if there is a big difference between the Premium sites and a full hook up sites. Price difference is $215 between the two. Is the premium site worth the difference. Also, when you make the reservation are you told which site you have?

First of all, Welcome to the Camping Board !

Premium sites are all concrete pads, full hook up are 2/3 to 3/4 concrete pad and the rest is a sand based area.

No they won't tell you a site number, but you can request a specific loop.
Be sure to tell them the size off your RV, if you have a awning and/or slide outs. They also need to know if you have a pet.

You are gonna have such a great time at the Fort !

Don't forget your fish'n pole !

It depends on what your priorities are if the price difference is worth it. The premium sites are closer to all the amenities of the Fort, so if you don't want to "hoof" it or don't have a golf cart, you might want to pay extra. Personally, I don't have to have cable (even though they all will have it soon) and I have my own cart, so premium is a waste for me. I don't care where they put me, except the overflow parking lot. I didn't enjoy that.

Welcome...I'm going to jump in here with my opinion too.
On the flip side of the coin, if you have a "specific" loop that you prefer to stay on you may have to pay the Premium rate. For instance, my favorite pet loop is loop 800, so I have to pay the Premuim rate to stay there. Even though my 5th wheel isn't that big nor does it have any slide out's and the extra conceret site isn't a selling point for me either, but the loop itself is. I'd say go for the preferred rate the first time you come and check out the sites and loops once your here to see which you'd prefer for your next trip. Unless you have a very large vehicle with slide outs and an awning etc. you'll fit just fine at a preferred loop, so save your $$$.

PS
Their is a thread somewhere on this board that lists which loops are preferred and Premium.

I will let you know after we go in December. :santa: :santa: :santa: :yay: :yay:

I like the idea of having the extra cement room cause that dirt area can get pretty messy.
We usually do a preferred site in the 1400 loop. Next year when we go that will be premium so that is what I will request again probably cause I really like that loop. We have a golf cart so being close doesn't factor into where we book. 1400 was where they put us on our first trip and we really liked it. :thumbsup2

What's the difference between 800 & 500. We requested 500 for our premium pet. We've stayed in 300 several times but never the 800.
