Do the rented golf carts at Ft. Wilderness have headlights? I'm wondering if they are able to be driven at night. At $44.00 a day, it will not be worth it to us if they are not able to be driven after dark. I want to drive down to the beach to see the EWP every night! Is there parking for cars at the EWP viewing area, or do we have to take one of those internal buses?

Also, Does Ft. Wilderness have the relfillable mugs for soda, coffee and tea?

Yes the carts have lights. We drove ours alot at night. There is parking near the beach for the EWP/ boat docks.

We didn't get the refillable mugs but I do think they had them. If you are in a cabin you will need to take the cart all the way to Trails End to fill them. We just bought drinks and kept them in our fridge.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. If we did not rent the golf cart would we be able to drive our car down to the beach and park for the EWP or would we have to take the internal bus?

The golf cart rental will cost more than our six day full size car rental.:D

No, you can't drive a car down there. The only place you can drive a car to are the Settlement posts (stores), and they have a limited parking time. Something like 15 minutes I think.

If you don't have a cart you are pretty much dependent on the busses to get you around the resort.

The carts are very expensive. but we found it very convieneint. I don't know how it would be to use the busses because we never tried them. Hopefully someone else will post with more info. You could also try posting on the Camping Board too.

Have a great time!

Thanks for the information. Even though the golf cart costs more than the car rental for six days, We are going to rent a car for driving around the world, and the golfcart, for driving around Ft. Wilderness. I don't want to waste any precious vacation time waiting for buses.:D

That is your best plan

......as for the refillable mugs this is a sore subject in my family, yes you can get them but they are only for coffee as they do not have any soda fountains at the stores ( they used to) you can get refills at crocketts tavern/trails end but there are some strings attached ( i dont remember what )

(FW seems to have the least amount of "perks" as far as on property resorts go ie refillable mugs and themed pools!.....i have stayed there so many times and over the years things have dwindled, i wonder how much longer they will do the campfire show! lol )

feel free to ask me any questions

You can get your mugs filled with soda, coffee or lemonade at trails end. You can refill coffee only at the meadows trading post. You can get refills at Trails end anytime until they close, even if they are closed between meals, the buffet that is. They will sometimes have a rope up to indicate this. You can still go in with your mug and get it filled. We have done this many times.

Just so you know, Fort Wilderness internal buses run every 10 minutes.

not to start anything but this past oct, for the 1200 loop we waited on average 25-30minutes the busses running in the other directions seemed to be more like 15-20 but we waited so long on several occasions we walked to trails end and beat the bus......hopefully they will improve , this was probably the worst year i have seen yet as far as transportation goes.

however, the AKL busses were great!!!
