Ft Wilderness Cabins May 15-22. WE ARE DOING WHAT?

My hubby says Yak and Yeti was his favorite meal of the trip. I would almost have to agree. I think the rain affected out trips to AK the most-so much we missed.

It is a toss up between Y and Y and Le Cellier for me. I knew my plans would change, but not to the extent they did. I hope we can make up for it when we go back in September.

Bummer the rain put a damper on your AK day. We loved Yak & Yeti last year too! The have yummy yummy food! I might have to eat there again next year, but that's OK because I think we have eaten at almost every Disney restaurant at least once so we are ready for repeats!

Hope the days get better and you are able to do more in the parks!

We had a good time, but it really did get tiring being wet all the time. I wish I could say the same about eating at all the restaurants. That is awesome. I have eaten at several, but with my picky crew I have to check out the menu carefully :rolleyes1. Dale would never have eaten at Yak and Yeti that is why it was just Tyler and me.

The days don't get any better as far as the rain :sad1:.

I forgot to add the beginning of the laundry ordeal. When we got back to the cabin Tyler tells us he was out of clean cloths and needs some things washed. Well, OK I had planned on washing some things anyway. So, Dale and I set out walking to the comfort station to do laundry. Dale carried the cloths in a garbage bag because I didn't bring a laundry basket :guilty:. I had a lot of quarters and it is a good thing too because it is $2.00 a load to wash and $2.00 a load to dry . So as we are walking back to the cabin the bottom falls out, and NO we didn't have an umbrella. You could have wrung the water out of what we were wearing. Shower time, AGAIN. We showered and dressed and headed to Walmart. So much for that nap. We stopped at the cs, there were 3 parking slots across from the cs :rolleyes1. We put the cloths in the dryer and headed to Walmart. We bought a basket :rotfl: and restocked drinks and breakfast food. When we got back the cloths in the dryer were dry so we loaded the basket and went back to the cabin. Total cost of laundry today $8.00.

Great job on the report! So sorry about your doggie and all the rain. I wondered on our way home (the record breaking rain day :scared1:) how those of you there that week were doing and I was hoping it got better for you all.

Love the pics of you guys at the GF!

You are going to laugh but when I saw the MMM pics I was like...oh wait that's me. :lmao:

Thanks for coming over :goodvibes. The day of the meet was the day it started raining and it followed me home. Finally, this past Wednesday it stopped raining :lmao:.

Thanks about the pix. The photog was really nice. She got something like 66 shots and asked if there was any other shots we wanted done. I think she took longer than the 30 minutes allotted. I hate that I can't remember her name right now :sad2:.

I though I took more pix of the meet that I have. I guess I just got too busy talking :rotfl2:.

I took more clothes then we needed, Chris picked on me while lugging the suitcase, but didn't say much when he had an extra set of clothes, go figure!!!

ugh on the laundry!!!!!!

I had plenty of clothes for Dale, Dallas and myself. It was Tyler and Matt that didn't have enough, 20 yo kids :rolleyes1. Then of course after we kept getting soaked we had to wash to keep the clothes from ruining.

Yeah, isn't it funny how we don't know anything until we are proven right :lmao:. I took two bags of meds and when Amanda, Tyler and Matt got sick they were glad I brought it all.

ugh on the laundry!!!!!!

Yes, I do so hate doing laundry. I loved how good the dryers were though. I am in need of a new dryer.

Hi! Was reading your thread b/c we're thinking of staying at FW this time around :confused3-- but now I don't know if the DD will go for the rustic stay! :rotfl: you've given lots of info, thank you!:cutie: Sorry about Niko's stay at the FW kennels, but glad it worked out okay at MK. I always bring my babies to the kennels at Epcot, and they've always been happy and safe there:banana:

Hi Dana hope you had a good weekend! The laundry fiasco...YIKES. Sorry you had to do laundry so early on in your vacation. I hate housework...ughh.

Just read through and caught up. The cabins look like a neat place to stay, was the campground easy to navigate once you got used to the layout?

I feel so bad for your poor little Niko, what the heck was up with the FW kennel???

Thanks for joining in. If your DD doesn't like to "rough it" then the cabins wouldn't be for her. I hated the one bathroom. They need more comfort stations with showers and bathrooms so even cabin dwellers can be comfortable :lmao:. I hope my info is helpful.

We thought about using the Epcot kennel or the AK kennel last year, but DH wanted to go with the TTC kennel. This year I won out by telling him the FW kennel would be much closer. Close yes, but :scared1: boy was I wrong about them being basically the same :guilty:.

and I used to live in New York, and $8 for a load of laundry is a good deal!!!:rotfl2:

That is too funny. We spent about $30.00 on 6 loads because we ran out of detergent and dryer sheets too. And I had to buy a laundry basket.......:rotfl2:.

We did have a good weekend thanks. I hate housework too. It seems like the harder I work to clean the harder the rest of my family works to mess everything up.

When we got to the cabins I thought about the John Candy, Dan Aykroyd movie "The Great Outdoors". Raccoons and all...............:lmao:. It wasn't that easy to navigate for me. Dale stayed at the kennel to try and get Niko calmed down and I drove back to the cabin, well I took the scenic route again.....ie I missed our turn and got lost :lmao:.

Thanks for Niko. He is doing fine now. I have some pix of him coming soon to show WHY this dog thinks he is a little boy.

:rotfl2:Oh my I am laughing so much from the smiling waitress at Chef Mickey(she's smiling because of the 18% tip she's getting from my TIW card and where's that oj?":rotfl2: I am really enjoying your writing style! And I like your roll with it attitude about everything.

Thanks :goodvibes.

She was a really sweet waitress, but..................

I will try to update tonight, sometimes it is hard when I come in from the salt mines though :lmao:.

Before we even step foot out the door, I make it clear to everyone that it's MY vacation too! So even though DH & DSs wanted to camp out next time we go I think we have to skip FW. One bathroom + teenage girl + rest of family = disaster.:scared: We'll bring the puppies back to Epcot, so I want to stay near there. You know anything about any of the places? Can't believe I'm now planning my vaca around the dogs! :rotfl: I just know they're happy there

Yes, the one bathroom was a disaster. There was more than one occasion when someone lost their tempers because of the bathroom :rolleyes1. I will refrain from mentioning names.......Dale and Amanda :rolleyes1. Oops, how did that get typed there? :lmao:

The resorts that are going to be close to Epcot are Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, the Swan and the Dolphin. They are deluxe resorts. We have never stayed in any of them. And I too have to plan my trips around the Royal Niko......(this is part of his AKC name)

Oooo the Yak and Yeti is a definite must do for our trip next year, the food looks great!!

Oh girl that food was fantastic. The only way I could go there when we go back in September would be to go by myself :sad2:.

Not to hikack but...if you are a camper or a person who likes state parks, it is super easy to navigate. But it isn't a true resort hotel, very different from that. We loved them but they are not for everyone. We liked them b/c it was so spread out, had privacy and had plenty of space, but if you want a resort feel...not a cabin in the woods, then I wouldn't do it. It was perfect for us. I see THV as being the fancier larger version, hence it being our choice for the next trip...a group of 8!

I also think it depends on the age group of your gang, a couple with 2-4 little ones wouldn't have any issues...as you get into teen, tween or more than 2 adults...it's tight.
Do check out the camping board. It is really geared towards camping and not the cabins but there is good info there.
