Ft. Wilderness Cabins becoming DVC?

Curious: don't you think these new cabins have the same modern look as Reflections did?

I think they'll be more modern but will have wood accents that I don't remember Reflections having. At least that's what I see in the rendering. And being 1 story, they'll blend in with the trees better. Reflections would have been taller than the trees and more obvious. At least to me...

I'm just so confused by this announcement. It doesn't make any sense. Why?
The whole tiny home concept is a pretty big one these days. And, this just gives an option to a group of new buyers who might prefer this type of resort, even with visiting the parks…or be a place for those wanting a more resort only stay.

You're right about the multiple stories of Reflections.

I feel like there are a lot of similarities in style, though. Including wood accents, transom windows, roofline, geometric patterns, etc. (Not complaining, I liked the original concept for Reflections, so don't mind the cabins being updated similarly).

I think Reflections would have fit very well. Secretly hoping that if the cabins sell well, perhaps they'll revive Reflections as part of the same Resort. I could see a dedicated pathway between the two areas with shared amenities.

The only one without resale restriction right now is VGF…

Oh and AKV is selling now too.
So if I want to buy 50 direct points the only resorts Disney will sell to me is either AKV or VGF? I thought members could buy as low as 25 points at all resorts.

Those are the ones that are in active sales right now, so they will have the points to sell you right away. RIV and Aluani are still in active sales as well.

If you call up about BLT, BWV, BCV, and any of the other properties they might now have the points to sell you right away.

Unfortunately, the cabins in the artist rendering look more like converted dumpsters or storage containers.

I asked my guide about adding on at BLT. Member pricing is $275 per point. I was flawed when compared to resale.

Anyone notice it said a bathroom, not bathrooms, for 6 people?
That's what they currently offer - sleeps 6 with one bathroom. I do like the comments from others about moving the bunks from the br to a murphy/sleeper in the LR but that would likely reduce capacity to 5. And, agree, if they could squeeze another shower in there, that would be great....

I'm going with what someone else mentioned that due to the timeline, they probably already have these in production or ready to go into production. Hopefully we'll get more details on this soon.

Agree with moving those bunks out of the bedroom if they want it to be a true 1 bed. Else it seems like something in between a studio and a 1 bedroom. I don't think I would want to pay 1 bedroom points for a Queen sized bed and sharing the room with the kids.

I don't think these will be comparable to studios. Honestly, I think they'll be more points than a 1 bedroom as well.
I actually agree it’s likely Disney makes these more points then 1bedroom. I’m just saying I can’t see it being popular if they do and and it is a complete no go for me (who loves fort wilderness) if they do that.

Anyone can look up what these costs today on cash market and see the value of this location and room category is not on par with even the cheapest 1br currently in dvc and is actually not even on par with most studios.

One bathroom and no laundry so think large studio with a door to the bedroom

I'd guess the points will be similar to the treehouses, although it could be argued that the location is better given the boat to MK (not sure I agree but it's def an 'MK resort'). I hope they structure the points so that pet-friendly rooms are a higher point value like with the concierge rooms at AK as opposed to paying a daily $ fee.

The only way I can see them removing bunks from the bedroom and still fitting 6 people is if they have a Murphy bed and two sleeping chairs in the living room. I guess it could be done, but it seems tight. I would love it if they did it that way and squeezed a king into the bedroom and a laundry closet somewhere.

I’m thinking they may add a loft area for the kiddos, instead of the current bunks. It’s very popular with the tiny homes… and kids 😉

Interested in seeing the point chart and if there’s any point restrictions. Might be interested in a small contract for every other year. I grow up going to the fort every year as a child but now my family is to big to stay in these new cabins since we’re a family of 7.

Where is the official announcement?

All I see are posts on Disney fan sites... Nothing on DVCMember.com
It's posted on the Disney Travel Agents News site. Here's the text.

Today, Walt Disney World Resort announced proposed plans to bring refreshed cabin hideaways to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, offering guests a private retreat in the midst of nature with many of the comforts of home.
Nestled across 750 acres of scenic woodlands, proposed plans call for more than 350 new cabins to replace the existing cabins at the resort, which have delighted guests for many years and will soon be ready for a refresh. Additionally, the proposed cabins would be built with an eye toward the environment, utilizing the footprint of the existing cabins and taking advantage of more energy-efficient features.
Design concepts offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience and are inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling. Each proposed, stand-alone cabin offers spacious accommodations, sleeping up to six adults, and features a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen and private patio. A select number of cabins are also expected to be dog-friendly.
As with all Disney Vacation Club resorts, the proposed cabins will continue to be open for reservations to all guests, including those who are not Disney Vacation Club Members, based on availability.
The planned cabins are part of a collection of improvement projects underway at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground that are designed to enhance the guest experience. Examples include proposed pool and walking trail enhancements as well as new expanded dining experiences at Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern, with more exciting news to come.
Located right in the heart of Walt Disney World magic and a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom Park, Members and guests would have easy access to the theme parks and be able to enjoy the resort’s cherished amenities, including horseback riding at the recently updated Tri-Circle-D Ranch, fishing, walking trails, pools, playgrounds for the little ones, Chip ’n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long and rootin’ tootin’ dining and entertainment at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Campsite accommodations will also continue to be available for guests.
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort is projected to open in 2024 and would be the 17th Disney Vacation Club resort. Additional Information regarding project details, the start of sales and rental bookings will be released at a later date.
