Frustrating looking at resales .........

I wonder if there are others, like DH and I, who seek out Oct. use year because it is the perfect use year for those who don't want to travel June through Sep. when it is so hot at WDW.

That's why we chose it. :thumbsup2 We had been to WDW a couple of times in June and once in Sept and found both to be much warmer than we cared for. We know we will not make either of those regular trips but do like Oct-Dec and Apr-May.

But then GCV came up and I wanted that for my June BD and would easily go there in Sept so we ended up getting some April points as well.

Little did I realize we were selecting the 2 UY's with the least points.

Ours is February...but that didn't help when we went looking for an HHI resale. Since we would not travel to HHI Nov-Jan, February was IDEAL. We only wanted 50-75 points so we watched and waited....and waited....and waited. Finally, I gave up and bought 50 points direct in the last week of January. It was perfect because we were able to immediately bank the 2010 points (since they had less than a week left of use) and we didn't have to pay any MF's on them.

I'm using the 2010 and 2011 points for a F&W trip this year. Then, we'll bank the 2012 points (going to WDW in June) and go to HHI for spring break in 2013.

I guess your Oct use year will benefit you if you ever needed to sell. You would probably be able to unload your contracts pretty easily.;)

There are hardly any Oct. UY contracts or they are higher point contracts than we want to add on and soooo many stripped contracts.

edk35 - we are right there with you - we have been looking for a small Oct add on contract for a long time now.......

Yes, I also have an Oct use year contract at SSR. I would like to do an add on but really want it to be at VGC. Since I live in CA I'd be using that contract to stay at VGC so I don't believe that it is nearly as important that I have the same use year. I'll use my SSR for DW and VGC for DL - should work out .... now I just need the $$$$ to pay for it! :lmao:

We just had out first VGC stay last week and we would LOVE to add on there as well - however, we are in the same position... just on a different coast.

We own at 4 resorts already - and that's quite enough!

Or at least the wife says so... :confused3

But VGC is without a doubt the nicest of ALL of the DVC resorts. It is AMAZING!

Yes, I tried to harvest my money tree crop but ..... nothing there! :confused3

hmm, I've just started looking into DVC, having no idea if we will really end up deciding to buy eventually and I still find this all rather complex. Do I understand correctly, that the use year you choose must surely be chosen with your most likely travel time in mind, given the 11 months out reservation thing? and is seeing that a lot of people have Dec and Feb use years indicative of a lot of competition for November- January bookings?

Our favorite travel times are usually the lightest crowds in the parks and resorts, so I'm hoping that lack of crowds and competition for bookings would hold true with DVC as well. :confused3

DVC is the simplest timeshare out there to understand.

I would really ignore use year as it is 90% irrelevant to most people and has nothing to do with competition for bookings.

Well, mine is the second most popular UY, but I've had a tough time, finding the right contract.

I just sold an October Use Year Boardwalk Villas 100 point contract. I obviously should have held out for more money. :)

Good luck in your searches.

Don't feel badly. I'm having the same trouble with March and BCV

Well not sure if I'm breaking any rules but within days of putting up 2 Oct UY contracts. Only just bought them last year but thanks to DH deciding to become my EX-DH :sad2:I have no choice but to sell them. The race is on for those of you looking for what (I won't put the details) we will be selling.:sad2:
