I have a sony a230 and have read the book 3 times, picked up a extra book on the camera (read 200 pages so far) and STILL cant figure out how to change my apature or shutter speed. I know theres a way but I cant seem to figure it out. Im probally having a stupid moment and missing the obivious but yea. can anyone explain to me how to do this? (Im a beginer but I understand alot of the terms and stuff).

Disclaimer - I don't have a Sony. But, if you put it in manual mode, you should be able to set the shutter speed and aperture.

I know I can, Im just not sure what button to use to do so. I feel like a friggen fool! I figured it out. Now that i know what the controll dial is. It changes my shutter speed and if I click another button it changes apature! Now I just have to reread the shutter speed info!

Does it have a control wheel? If so, put the camera in aperture priority mode and try turning the control wheel. That may change your aperture.

look at page 62 and 65 of your manual. You use the control dial to adjust aperture and shutter speed.

I sympathize! Having just recently purchased my first dslr, a Nikon D5000, I'm finding there is an amazing amount of information to try and learn. So many dials, settings, etc. that it feels a little overwhelming.
I have to remind myself that everything new feels like that...remember learning to drive a car, at first it seemed there were so many things to keep track of but before you knew it, you didn't have to think about each thing, it just seemed natural.
I'm hoping that with my camera, as I use it and keep reading, and taking classes it will become much easier.

It is a blast of information all at once and sometimes your brain feels like it's on overload.

All I can say is that it gets better with time and practice. Hang in there. :flower3:
