frustrated at society

Today we had our annual Greek Sing at my college. My sorority worked long and hard (as did everyone) on our songs. After amazing performances from every group, the sorority that wore the lowest cut and tightest fitting costume and who shook themseleves all across the stage ended up winning-even though everyone agrees that there were many groups better!! The judges were all middle aged professionals as well!! It's sad that even in a small microchosim of a college greek community sex sells above taste. I guess it really hit home for me today the fact that society has really accepted sexiness as the only way to get to the top. It's pretty scary IMHO.

Really scary. Sexy sells. It doesn't seem to matter where you are anymore or the circumstances. Hate that you had to witness that and sorry for your dissapointment.

Sad, yes, Sarah, but great, that at your young age, you realize that, and can see it for what it is. Sure wish I was able to see you guys perform, bet it was great. Enjoy your days at school.

And as far as middle-aged men judges choosing a bunch of less-talented college girls because of their low-cut dresses etc, remember...

It also goes the same way for men as well in corporate America. They want to promote the 6ft+, athletic men over the hard working, smarter shorter more plump guy.

So it is not just "sex" but really image as well. We are a visual society.
