Frusteration over picky 11 y/o forced to eat adult food

As was stated before your ds should have no problem ordering off the kids menu. I'm a very picky eater and have no problem ordering of the adult menu. I normally pick and chose from the adult and kids menu with no problem. At the concourse steak house i was able to get my steaks plain and fries since they sever them to the kids menu.

We went to California Grill and my 12 yo DD was able to order the kids fish & chips off the kids menu. She paid the kids price. Actually, when the waiter seated us, he handed DD both the adult menu AND a kids menu.

Sometimes my younger DD will just order an appetizer for her meal (she got potstickers, I think, at Kona as her meal.)

We haven't done the dining plan, so I can't comment on how they handle things.

For most meals your ds can order off the kids menu no problem and pay the kids price.....for restaurants that have a menu.

However, buffets, preplated restaurants like Garden Grill, or restaurants like Akershus (which you are specifically talking about) are different. If there is a set price per adult and a set price per child, your son will be able to eat kids food, but will have to pay the adult price.

HTH,

:)

PS I have a picky eater, also, that is Disney adult but eats like a toddler. And she was able to eat kids food everywhere.....we were just charged adult prices at a few places as outlined above. This was at Thanksgiving.

We travelled with an 11 yr old in December last year. The only places he had to pay an adults price were in buffet and family style type restaurants. Everywhere else he was able to chose from the childs menu and pay childs prices.
